Post DIY: Tanabe R-Spec Cat-back Exhaust Install

Product: Tanabe Super Racing Medallion (R-Spec) Cat-back Exhaust System

Tools Needed:
- Ramps
- Jack
- Socket Wrench
- 14mm socket
- 12mm socket
- Pliers
- Soft Hammer
- WD40

Step 1:
To get under the car you are going to need to jack up the PASSENGER side of the car. We did this by rolling the front up on a ramp and jacking up the rear. We helped support the feeble jack by taking the other ramp and sliding it under the rear wheel.

Step 2:
Begin by removing the three nuts from the catalytic converter. Use the 14mm socket to get the nuts off. They may be rusted on so apply some WD40 to the nuts and soon they will come loose.

Step 8:
Take the muffler and attach it to the underside of the car using the 2 leftover rubber hangers. Align the muffler pipe with the exhaust pipe. Before you bolt the 2 together make sure that the exhaust is not hanging too low or touching the car. Adjust the metal hangers appropriately before bolting the pipes together. Once you have everything the way you want it bolt pipes together.

Is that the street legal one, how long did it take you to install? How loud do you think it is, even though that is a judgment call.

It is 50 State Approved/DOT Street Legal.

I has a loud but low rumble tone that loves to sing in the low to mid RPM range.

Find 3 Exhaust Clips of the Tanabe on my car here....

hey you might want to put in there somewhere that people should cool down their engine and exhaust before they do this...

dont want anyone to burn themselves...

I know that should be common knowledge, but you never know.

LOL, we didn't wait for the piping to cool before we went to work. Sure the socket got real hot but we didn't burn ourselves. It was only hot at the Cat. The rest of the piping cooled really fast.

The length of the LX exhaust is longer than the EX exhaust. This is why you need to buy the longer adapter.
