Coil Overs Facts or BS??

I just have a couple questions about Coil Overs. I read that there are 2 different kinds. Sleeved and True. Also I heard the following things about them:
1) Coil Overs will lose their Height Settings over time (have to keep re-adjusting)
2) Coil Overs make tons of noise.
Will Coil Overs work well with stock struts? (that may not make sense...I have no idea how they go on the car) I am just tired of waiting for aftermarket struts to come out for our cars. I want a stiffer ride on my car with my Intrax Springs. And someone told me that Coil Overs would be the way to go except for the above comments. Which I am not too fond of.
Can anyone comment.

One more thing. I have just finished looking at the prices for True Coilover setups. Around $1200.00 it looks like. Does that make them superior to Spring/Strut replacements? I mean, it costs a bit less IMO.

Yea sleeve coilovers are adjustable springs and true coilovers are adjustables springs with built in shocks. Yes coilovers do make make noises but thats when there settling in and sometimes they just keep making popping noises but not all the time.

Just replace your shocks with Koni Yellow adjustable shocks. You can get all the stifness you want with those.
I have rare Koni's right now and I want some for the front but the only thing that is available according to a rep is linked down below.
Front Koni Struts
Is this ok to do? Is it worth it? I am going to have a shop do this, but I just want to know if it is worth the money. The rep told me about $220.00 per strut insert.

I have my Koni's set about 3/4 of a turn toward stiff. There are 2 full turns on the adjustment. I've tried them on full stiff and they are hard as a rock. Virtually no movement at all of the car on bumps, very little body lean.
Since the adjustment is just changing the valving and fluid flow, I don't think it will hurt them to run on stiff. Personally I couldn't stand that harsh a ride for very long.
The mod to the struts is easy. I bought a set off a wrecked car for $125 and did mine and then later another guy's set. But I had a shop do the install on the car. I've had them on a year now and I couldn't ask for any better.
I paid $520 for all 4 shocks. Paid $140 to have the springs (ProKit) and shocks installed and the aligment checked out. Wheels lined up fine with no camber kit or anything else. The shop guy said it was harder to do the rears than it was the fronts, but then I already had the inserts installed in the spare set of struts for him.
I think the shocks now sell for about $550 for a full set of 4.

Also I heard that you have to do the Strut Insert in order to get Koni's on the Front as they don't sell complete Strut units for our cars.
You got ripped. I think I explained above about modding the struts and putting in the Koni inserts. It's real easy. I won't tackle anything really serious.
