Financing...

If I finance a car (Honda's financing program in particular), and put and down payment of $10000, and there's lets say $20000 left to pay off with 5.8% APR, making $100/mth payments for a ton of months (I know this is kinda un-realalistic, but I'm just keeping it simple)
Lets say a month after I start fianacing this car, I make a ton of money, so I decide to pay off the rest of the $19900 that I have left to finance, do I pay it off without any interest? Or do I have to pay 5.8% on the balance?

I think they will calculate the amount of interest built up to date and just charge you for that.

every insurance company is different
and it also depends on how clean your record is
but generally speaking, RSX is more expensive than civic when it comes to insurance

My friend got his RSX for 38000 and he's like 19, under his mom. insurance only for 4000.

I got my car for 25000 and i'm 22. under my mom. insurance is 3100.

It's a bit expensive but in a way it's cheaper!!!.. his car is worth 38000 and my car only 25000. I really want to know how these idiot at insurance companies calculate these premiums.

well RSX is more expensive car, parts could be the same or more expensive
but the HP is the difference. the insurance company will think the RSX is a faster car and more accidents will result (i know it's not true....sad but true to those insurance company setting premiums)

RSX is a "sports car" in their books.

I was quoted close to 8000.. and some refused to give me figures...

right now I pay 5000 for civic coupe... two drivers.

There are many factors that are included, their driving record, his mom's driving record, discounts if they have other things insured with them, how long they've been insured (or a customer), etc. Honestly if you're under 25 and primary driver on brand new car, you're gonna get raped on insurance either way.

I was quoted something like $9800/yr for RSX... NOT EVEN TYPE S! i got clean record, but under 25, drive a 2 door, Honda Car, male...and I guess they rip me off for being azn, too If you want to save money, register it outside of GTA under ur folks' names... dirt cheap. i have a friend who has his car registered in Florida cuz insurance is insane here. i think he pays something like 60/mth for his Eclipse spyder. damn, someone's gotta do something about the rates~

Ya.. he's 19 under his mom. 4000 for an rsx.

i'm 22. clean record, full G and my mom's been driving for like 30 yeras and she was an instructor. I have my house and other car under the same insurance company.
I park at an underground garage.

it should be cheaper than 3100. I would of got an rsx too if i knew it was so just a little big more expensive.

Can I ask what insurance company you're on? Cause those are bad rates, you should talk to your insurance company and see if you can negotiate something, you might be able to get cheaper, and if not u can try threatening to leave.

You, an invididual can not determine if he has bad rates or not. There are many many factors that affect insurance rates and basically I doubt you have acquired enough information to justify your response.

What I meant by bad rates, was that he could probably get cheaper rates. I have friends with tickets and 2 accidents that get the same rate as he was quoted on an RSX premium.

I'm just offering my opinion, just like the rest of you when you try to offer car advice in which you're not even qualified justify your response. lease:

I think Bel-air Direct has cheaper rates for being a student...

When i got quoted, I was 21/F, no accidents, no tickets, no claims.
$3000 with Bel-air direct.

That was using my Richmond Hill Address. But once i got a quote for my waterloo address, it was HALF of that...!!!! The area you live in, your age, your marital status, and your record are some of the biggest determining factors...

But we went with state farm (multiple policies) and I am getting $1500 for my Richmond Hill address, which kicks ***!!

Anyways just check out online quotes like www.kanetix.com or www.carcostcanada.com since basically these are the information that are used from your agent to determine the price to insure your cars. But remember sex, age, experience & insurance, city, marriage can all affect it.

When I get my G2 I'm going to live with my cousins, quoted for less than 3K in Maple, but than thats excluding a possible huge discount for multi policies (3 cars, 6 drivers)

It's through a broker at a small firm called Dominion Insurance. Ya. These are pretty bad rates but it's the cheapest compared with most insurance companies.

Well, just in comparison with the dude with the RSX.
I would really want to know what is the cause that is pushing my insurance to that price.

I actualyl tried using one of those online insurance quotes. Really odd thing is that i would enter the same info and i would get a different quote every time i do it.

THe lowest i got was $1100 for a celica GT. i should of kept the Reference # for that. dammn.
but they probabley would of raised it back to 6000 within 1 year. =(

Ask your agent and find out? Most likely they can find out why is it costing you an arm and a leg.

Those online insurance quotes always give you higher numbers, because it's for the general public, cause they're covering their own asses. If you get a quote online, and you go in person to the broker and negotiate something with them privately, you can always get a better deal than those online quotes.

And plus I've already mentioned what you wrote down in my previous posts.

Of course based on your ALL your driving experience, and insurance experience, I should be coming to you for help when it comes to cars and insurnace right? lease:

Well maybe cause you haven't even began to start driving on your own yet. How much experience do you have with cars? Oh wait, you have a CRV with modified lights. lease: I'll give you a call next time I'm thinking about going superwhite lights in my car. . . What's it gonna be PIAA, Catz, Raybrig, or Eurolights? I've only stated this response cause you asked me why not. IMO this is pretty much a waste of time.

So your misjudging my knowledge in cars due to my age?

Interesting... how much experience I have? Since Summer of 2002 I have been actively involved with a performance automotive shop that deals with Honda engines in particular. What have I done? Disassemble motor, assist in swaps and other tasks required to be done. Would we like to go into detail and let the little one educate the bigger ones in particulary to Honda engines?
