Question investing into my civic or college?

I need some help trying to decide on investing my money into my car or into my education?
I wish I could do both but I don't have the money to do so. I've put off college for a few years
now, and it's time to do something with my life, and coming from a small town theres not much oppertunity here other than small dead end jobs! If theres any FT or PT students out there pulling off both then please, I'm all ears.

that's such a stupid question, defiently invest in your education = your future..nobody can take that away from you...I was in the same boat, the only one outta my friends who went to college, and the only one driving a stock car...well guess what, I'm making more than them now, and my car is getting modded, just have patience

Dude there is no decision to be made here. Your education should come first. Having a cool car but no ends to spend sucks. Get the education then get even more cash to buy that Subaru WRX you always wanted. Meanwhile slap some rims on and be happy.

well, i'd say surely go with education. im pulling off both. i work two jobs, one 4-5 days a week, anther 2 days a week, plus i go to college full time. it is a little pain to work so much, but it works off. i just paid for my first yr of college myself, plus i just bought a brand new car myself. So thats car loan, car insurance, modding, and saving for college per month. You just have to be money savy. I pull it off, and im only 18.

Got plenty of mods so far too:
rims
alarm
wing
tails
ss
piaa
springs
camber
tint (next week)
exhaust

just save ur money and learn to compromise, say put aside a certain amt of money a month for this or that and know ur expenses. i'd say get the dead end jobs and just do them to make money. find the best paying one and just take it, its a job and money. then just get a new one once u get an education. its always good to show that u are a reliable person by working there several months at a time. so when u do ur resume for a real job, they kno ur a dependable person

Spend your money on the damn car!!! screw your education, who needs to learn anyway??? Im just joking, im with everyone else spend it on your education, by the time you graduate you'll be makin phat loot. You should seriously look into scholarships and grants too, it'll help the stress of having to scrounge for money, or at least ALL of the money for tuition.

By all means get your education. Sell your car and take the bus if you have to.

A car an investment? Maybe if it was a Harley, or some classic car, but this is a 7th gen Honda Civic. They are all over. Modding also does not increase, and in most cases doesnt do anything to the value of the car. Im going to college, and have a decent ride. I dont care that it is slow, im just looking for a car to get me to point A to Point B, and that looks decent. When I get my degree, and a good job, than I will move up.

I am a full time student and work pt also. Use your money on education first. Be patience! Once you finish school you will get a better job = better pay. Then you can do anything you want to your car or even buy a new one. My s2000 is waiting for me

Nah man, you need to invest in your education. This is the way I look at it, you get a good education, get your undergraduate degree and that will open alot of doors for your future. From this you can get a nice paying job, and if you still have your civic, mod the hell out of it with all that extra $$$. Im going to college after this year, but I have pretty much moded my civic up, so im good.

im a senior in high school, part time job at law firm (receptionist), full time girlfriend..... this modding stuff is very addicting, i agree with vinh,

i say put the modding for later, your education will get you far! think to yourself, where will modding your car get you?

working, school, girlfriend...... its very hard, the only thing good about modding the car is that its a great passtime and hobby....

hope everything goes well

btw, when i graduate, im going to college (community though) but its still something

Go to a junior college first, have class two or three times a week. Also, get a PT job. Thats what I've been doing. You'll have no spare time but your car will be tite.

I was trying to do all 3 like those other guys (girlfriend, school, and work).

I figured it out and the solution is DUMP HER!!!

I got my civic a year and a half ago. I didn't have the money for any mods until I dumped that crazy b**** 3 months ago. To my delight I now have 18s and b&g sport suspension all in just 3 months. If only I had dumped her when i got the car, it would be so nice!!!

My point is that girls will take your money and your time. Single guys still get booty. Trust me. I've been finding this out.

go to a junior or community college, they are hooker cheap plus college is still college, you can still get a great paying job from them. while i agree with tofuricer that g/f are expensive, they are (atleast mine is) worth it. you have "daily access" wink wink, plus you dont have to worry about STD's from those cheap christina agulairas out there. but anyways, go to a cheap college, still work a full 40 hours a week and you will have more than enough at the end of the month to play with for your car.

That's a stupid question. Go to school, get a good job, and do whatever you want to your car. I'm in scholl right now full time, and I also have a full time job. It isn't that bad. It's only for a couple of years and after that you go get a decent paying job, get a nice car, nice house, etc.

It's amazing how people think college education equals = great job, money, and success. I graduated from a high tier college with a great gpa. But I don't have a great job. Maybe it's because I haven't been out of college for that long and the tough job market. But college degrees today are like high school degrees and alot of people that I know who have college degrees are still struggling; It's not really worth what it is used to be. Of course, I agree with these people who say to get the degree. It is better to get your education instead of hooking up your civic, but again don't listen to these people who say you'll be making lots of money b/c of a degree. What matters is the right connections!

Why even ask? Who cares about a souped up car when you don't have a job to pay for the gas?

first i have to agree with genx_7 about education not equalling big money.... just take a look at the local high school where 100% have BS/BA's; and 35-40% have MA/MS's; and typically 8-10% have PhDs... all for an average nationally of $38K... i taught for a sabatical for 5 years....
but then again i have a BS, an MA, and 2 MS's.... and i taught for fun for 5 years.... how many people can say they took off 5 years to do something fun [it really was-and rewarding].... but i'm back in the engineering world so i can support me, my girls, my new house, and the fun i'm having playing with the civic....

steve
and before you go look at my profile....yes i'm old---as ****--- just ask ingen (we talked in atlanta for a bit last month)

If you're dumb enough to ask this question, then you need to get your a$$ in school and learn something man! A car isn't gonna do a damn thing for you in life except look cool.
Lookin cool and being a broke a$$....................not good with the chicks man!
The car can wait!

Here's an idea. Join the military and get paid to go to school. That's what I'm currently doing, so I get the best of both worlds. Of course, I'm 1300 miles from my girl and completely miserable, but there's always some 'small' sacrifices, isn't there?.......
