Ah yea, It wouldn't be 7thgen without the daily "i'm-a-dumbass-and-didn't-search-before-asking-a-question" thread.

Tanabe R-Spec is your answer. Try a search on that and find out why.

Go with an HKS Hi-Power Exhaust and replace the stock resonator with a 12" bullet resonator from JCWhitney. By far the best sounding, and supposed to have the best gains (although not much). Just listen to the exhaust clips section and you'll see that the HKS with the new resonator sound the best

Screw all that, my LX weighs less, and with a difference of about 12hp and a sunroof, I'll stay with my LX...
yeah there may be more parts out for the EX, but theres ways around that..

i think i understand what you are trying to say. i have what you want to get. i have a 2002 LX with a magnaflow exhaust with a hp racing header ... both EX style. the only extra parts you need other than the EX header, cat, and exhaust, is an EX front sway bar. now either get the OEM 25.4 mm one from someone like hondawerx or get a larger one from neuspeed or some other company.

now since you're going for cheapest system, mine is pretty close to that. magnaflow catback exhaust is 300 and it is compatible with the EX and the LX, so you can put it on your LX then get your EX headers and put that on later. the HP racing header and hi-flow cat is about 270 from nopionline.com. otherwise just get a header and custom piping to a muffler which would probably be cheaper and less hassle about installation. although i dont know of any muffler shops.

I'm not into the loud mufflers. I like the bassy ones, so i can hear my intake at high rpms. I've got a Vibrant tunebale axle-back exhaust (Apexi N1 style). Nice and deep, not that loud ricey s**t.

if I'm going to be riding in a LX, I'd rather be riding in a DX that weights even less. heh.

LX is unfortunately, the slowest of all civic. an automatic LX, especially.

not that an EX or whatever else is any much faster anyway.

gearings are different dude. short gearings help these low displacement rev happy engines.

as for exhaust.. man its so subjective, just get one within your budget, and the sound that you like...

because they're all the same in terms of performance.

how come most of the exhaust clips links are all broken, btw?

Actually.....speaking in useless comforts the EX model is better......However....The DX model is actually your best bet for making a true street racer since it has no power anything to weigh it down and no sunroof to weaken the chassis. Beside the 13hp increase , the EX model is rather useless to a street racer since most people serious about their car are gonna swap some other engine in anyway cuz the 7th gen engines suk no matter what model it is.
