Need a little bit of help
Hey all,
I have a 2002 Panasonic Ghost head unit and 3 days ago ordered a Panasonic CQ-VAD7200U indash DVD and Screen, I was wondering what component speakers and 6x9'S should I get and is it possible to wire all these speakers to an amp under the seat and what kind of amp. Im looking to spend around $350 on component speakers 6X9'S and an amp. Please any info would be great
Thanks
Brian

Thats a tough one. I would save up some more money. If you that impatient look to the Rockford Fosgate 300x. it is last years model and is on clearance for dirt cheap. The changes for this year are cosmetic only and is small enuff to get under your seat.
Rockford Fosgate 300X
Im not sure if you have an EX, LX or DX or even if its a coupe. I will assume its a coupe. If you have an EX, i would spend the rest of you money on a good set of front comps and run the factory rears off your deck until you can some good rears that will handle the amp power. You should be able to get two sets of coaxials though if you have an LX or DX like these and come in about $20 over budget with a nice sounding system
MB Quart 6.5's for your fronts
MB Quart 6x9's

I am probably going to go with that setup its around my price, but does the component come with tweeters? If not you have any recomendations on tweeters.
Thanks

Components which are 2 way come w/tweeters and passive xovers...which are most. I currently have some Boston Rally comps in my front stage which you can get off Ebay for about $100 that sound absolutely amazing
...the SQ coming from these speakers sounds like it's coming from an actual instrument and not a speaker(which is what you want to work towards in a good SQ system). You can't get much better than that for your money.
Ok, so that now leaves you with $250 for your amp. That should get you a decent amp, also on Ebay. Look for an amp w/at least 50wrms X ch. As for brand, there's a whole bunch, my favorites are Zapco, Arc, and Phoenix Gold.
For the 6X9's, you shouldn't really worry about them, these are just rear fill. Front stage should be about 85% of your musical listening experiance and rear fill about 15%(or less)...in an ideal sound stage. The only exception to this would be surround sound systems. Most high SQ systems don't even utilize rear fill. If I were you I would stick w/stock 6X9 and just worry about my front stage/amp for now. Just my .02 cents.
Other comps that are worth looking at are...Focal, Mb Quart, ID, Dynaudio, CDT and Morel.

white02, coaxial = one piece full range speaker.
components = separate tweeter and midbass driver.
braxial = component with tweeter mounted over the midbass driver.
That should clear up the basic types of speakers for you.

since you said you wanted 6x9's, you better have a coupe. if you do have a sedan, you'll want 6.5's for the front and back (i say this because i know someone made this mistake already
).
