Sirius Satellite Radio....
Anyone have any experience with the satellite radio systems?? Either Sirius or XM? I just picked up the receiver and antenna pretty cheap, so I was planning on installing it this weekend... I've heard pretty decent things about XM, and Sirius is pretty new to the market. My receiver is only Sirius compatible. I would like to hear what you guys' (and girls') feedback are if you've experienced it or heard it at all... Things like clarity, channels, being able to go across country on one station, etc.... (BTW, I've already checked the companies sites and what they offer...) Thanks!

Sirius is the only one that is 100% commerical free. If I were you, I would look at channel selection. I've went to Best Buy and played with both, and I like the channel selection that Sirius has. They have added more stations, esp Techno, and got rid of a couple that werent doing so well. you could compare XM and Sirius to Dish Network and Direct TV. They pretty much have the same s**t, you just gotta chose one. I wonder if they will ever come out with "smart cards" for satellite radio, like they have for dish.
Alot of Xm is commercial free, what isn't commercial free has very few commercials. XM has major support from the music industry thus it's programming is better. As far as Dance (please stop calling it techno people XM by far has better programming, brodacsting Buzz live, Thump Radio, Sound System, just really good programming. XM is also more powerful and sounds better with less dropouts. Sirius already claimed Chapter 11 for restructure but they are probably going full Chapter 7 soon, I have heard the possibility of XM buying them out.

XM has everything you would ever want to listen to, Sirius does not have more to choose from. XM does have a FEW stations with commercials but they are nothing close to normal commercial radio, not by a long shot. Sirius keeps having financial problems, one day they are doing alright but the next they are runniing into problems. They seem to be doing better now but XM was there first, is extremely stable financially, and has more of an industry backing. Both are incredible, but in my opinion XM has the edge. There is a ton of online info about both. Do a Google search and read up.

To make a long story short.....Sirius is the way to go. 3 dollars extra for no commercials...you can't beat that! How much is all that wasted time worth to you? I would hope at least $3...and when you factor in the fact that they are giving away free kenwood decks when you join up, you can't beat it!

As a hardcore invester in the company...i think you're full of it. Sirius "hasn't been doing very well" only when it comes to subscription numbers. And, not that you care, but tomorrow is the big day that decides the fate of the company....which, by the way, will not be going out of business either way.

Ummm, about half of my homeys have Kenwoods, and none of them have Sirius ...go figure
yea, im not going to get sirus or XM until a little later. I don't think either are doing very well right now, so I don't want to spend the money on the reciever, it is a risk. You already bought the reciever so go for it.

Sure you can beat $3 extra dollars a month for no commercials...Get XM for $3 a month cheaper and not worry about the few stations that do have very limited commercials. There are plenty of channels that have no commercials and the ones that do are very limited in the amount of commercials they do air. Don't get caught up in the "no commercials" hype that Sirius is always bragging about. It is VERY limited on XM, only on select channels, and definitely not the usual commercial garbage you have to listen to anyway on normal FM radio.
Sirius has almost NO major support from the music industry, I know I work heavily in the promotion end of the industry. XM has become the standard that every label is competing to be on. Quality, price, programming, etc... XM has Sirius beat hands down. And who said that teh only area that Sirius is not doing well is subscriptions. I actually had to do a double take at that. Subscriptions is how they pay for it. Yes Sirius is doing well that is why they filed Chapter 11 for corporate restructure, dehr. Don't waste your money on Sirius
