tin can filled with pissed bees
i recently put on a 4-1 header, 2.5 inch downpipe. ive had a custom catback with 2.25 with a obx-r canister muffler.... i also have no cat anymore and it sounds way too ricey right now. what would my best bet be? tanabe? n-1? thermal? i need something that will give me some backpressure back. any ideas?
I had the same problem with my N-1, it was way to raspy. I had a resonator welded in for 20 bux and it took the rasp away and also softened the resonance in the car. From Idle to 3k it is deep throaty and from 4-7k (WOT) all i can hear is the intake, the exhaust resonance is gone. Try welding in a resonator...it's a pretty cheap date. good luck
I would think flowmaster 60 series would give you most backpressure since its not straight through
even tho everyone here here is against flowmaster, i might get a setup whats 200 bucks

2.5" Pipe for one is too big...2.25" pipe is as big as you'll ever need for an N/A 4 banger... you probably lost bottom and top end power with your exhaust setup and made it rediculously loud.. Cut down to 2" or 2.25" Mandrel bent piping. The downpipe instead of a cat is fine, but the gain is pretty minimal on an EX...on a DX/LX with the dual cats it can free up 2-3 Ponies...
A Resonator and smaller piping is your sulution.. Gor for a complete cat-back exhaust system..

When I ordered my HPR 4-1 header I also ordered one of there mid sections (requires axle back) and had a custom axle back made w/ my AC Revolution muffler. Its nice because I can always put the silencer back into my muffler when the sound gets annoying. You could try installing on of thoose arospeed exhaust control valves, but I dont know where u can buy them anymore.
