cutting off springs....''good or bad''?!?!
a friend of my cut of his springs in a shop near his house and they charged him 50bucks....... i allready got some lowering springs but it didnt drope my car as i wanted to...it drop like 1.5''..and theres alot space betwen the wheel and the body...so it doesnt look like i lowered my car at all....so i just trow away $150 bucks ....BUT they say that if u cut the spring on the 7thgen civic the back will bounce like crazy!!.....i want to know what should i do before i do anything stupid!!! and i dont want speed 250 bucks on coil over...cuz im really out cash!!

I heard it's fine to cut Progressive springs or dead coils. Anyway, this has been talked about MANY MANY times...

what springs did you get? contrary to what most people think, some springs are ok to cut. any springs with dead coils you can cut without it having any effect on ride quality. dead coils are coils that are stacked up together when the springs are on the car, compressed.
no matter what kind of spring they are, I wouldn't cut them. Just turn around and sell them, and then buy yourself springs that will bring your car lower. It might cost you a bit of money, but when you think of the money you're getting back for your old springs, its not that bad.
If you don't give a crap about ride quality, safety, and things like that... cut away.
It may work ok, but I'd rather do it right.
Anyways, you might spend more more repairing the underside of your car (hitting bumps), then save by cutting.
Buy some new springs that are better then stock, and you'll be much happier.

Well, I have some progress springs. I noticed that on most cars the back seems a little lower than front and I wanted to correct that. Do you guys think that it would be ok to cut them like 1/2 inch to get a nice stance and lowered drop. Will ride quality suffer? Will I have a higher tendency of bottoming out?

let me explain WHY you shouldnt cut them, since no one else did.
ok, lowering springs compensate for the lower ride hieght by being stiffer. for example- say you put in a set of eibachs that had the same stiffnes of the pro-kit or sportlines, or whatever, but, they were made to give stock ride height, if you would watch the car over a bump, the suspension would compress say, an inch. and following behind that car is a car with a stock suspension, its suspension compresses say 1.5-2 inches(im just making up these figures). now imagine those same cars, the one in front has a set of the eibachs, and the car behind has its stock springs cut to give the lowerd amount of the eibachs. take them both over the same bump. the one in front again compresses the suspension maybe an inch, but doesnt scrape because the spring stiffness keeps it from squatting too low. now the second car goes over the bump. it scrapes because the stock springs are meant for a fairly soft ride compared to the eibachs so it gives more and in turn bottoms out, does that clear it up for you?
