shootin flames?!
ok guys...i have a 01 lx 5speed, intake, 4-1 header, no cat., full exhaust, and n-1 muffler, jet ecu upgrade, and a few other little motor parts. when i rev it up to about 5 or so i can smell a lot a unburnt fuel. i know its because of the no cat. but my question is can i put a spark plug in the tip of the muffler and shoot flames like in the old hot rods. ive done this mod to my buddys old chevy and a few other cars, so i pretty much know how its done correctly. has anyone on thie site attempted this on a 1.7 litre civic before? any input would be great! thanks!
Hey Vtechunter,
Frist I would like to know what you think of the jet ecu upgrade? do you think it was worth the money? do you think it gave you more power?
Next from what Iv'e hard shooting flames from your exhaust is very harmful to your engine so if I was you I would just adjust the ecu and fix the problem.

the jet upgrade is worth every penny! the best way to get it done is though jcwhitney....its only like 230 or 240 for the package....for my specific setup i felt a dramastic change. before the motor felt like it was tring to hard to accelorate beyond 5700, now the motor feels more like it pulles more smoothly. i have no "problem" thats needs to be adjusted. the only way to stop the fuel from being sent though the exhaust would be to put on a new cat. im just looking for someone who miht have this flame shooter done allready. the dis ignition isnt as easy to mess with as a convent. distributer ignition is.

if i nto mistaken , i dont think this will work on a fuel injected car. I haVe installed one of these on a friends 76 camaro. I think its works becuse it has a carb. By reving the engine, stopping and hitting the switch, the carb overloads and the excess gas(and yes, its alot) goes thought the tailpipes and hits the spark. Im nto sure of it working on a fuel injected car. Just my knowledge on this.
