Yes my friends, the newly updated Impreza WRX is going to be avaliable next month. It's going to be the same price as the current WRX, and the Sti version wich is going to be a 2.5 l engine with 300 HP is expected to arrive in summer of this year. I some of you guys live in the Orlando, FL area and are interested in one of those or the current WRX or RS or any other Subaru or Mazda model, call (407) 851-0318 and ask for Obed Velez. Nice! That new design is clean. I know WRX lists at 23,995 but what are the dealers in Orlando acutually pricing them at? A WRX is probably my next car.

I thought the STi was just another variation of their rally car and engine, but with some tweaks to get more out of the turbo....

And a 2.0 liter engine. The RS is a 2.5, but the WRX and STi are 2.0 liter engines.

you know, i was just wondering about that....why are the WRX and STi 2.0L?? is smaller displacement better for a turbo engine or something??
i mean would a 2.0L motor w/ a turbo perform better than a 2.5L motor with a turbo?? just curious cause this is the deciding factor (pretty much) in what my next car would be.

Because rally cars can't have any larger of an engine than 2.0 liters. Which is why subaru's rally cars are 2.0 liters. Hence the reason the new EVO is also a 2.0 liter.

oh...ok, that makes sense. but what about engine potential? is a greater displacement gonna result in higher HP w/ a turbo or will it decrease potential? 2.0L or 2.5L...which would you rather turbo? i know it might be a stupid question, but im just learning about forced induction...so im trying to find out these things. like i know a lower compression ratio is better for turbo applications (right?) but what about displacement?
thanks for your help..

they make a turbo for the 2.5rs that is almost i dentical to the one on the 2.0 l wrx. it would just be cheaper and faster to get an 18,000 dollar 2.5rs which, the new ones look indentical to the wrx's, and throw on the 2,000 dollar turbo upgrade. still less money and even faster.

hehehe...its like you read my mind. LOL

i wonder if the turbo upgrades for the WRX are compatible with the 2.5L engine. theres an upgrade that can get the HP up to 385....muhahahahahahaha...but i dunno if thats just for the wrx or not. maybe ill call the company.

I'm telling you, I have information on the US spec Sti , after all I work for Subaru, and yes the specs we have are 2.5l DOHC with Active Valve Control (Subarus variable valve timming system) with 300HP and a 6 speed shifter.

Those STi's are unbelievably quick! I would be happy with just a WRX.

Look.... I don't know the new specs for sure, so I'm not gonna argue. I just question why subaru would make the STi a 2.0 liter for the rest of the world, yet a 2.5 liter for the US.

Then again, who knows. So I won't argue with you.

It's true, its gonna be a 2.5L 300x2 engine.

This is really old news. It IS a 2.5L. The US is getting the most powerful version of the STi.

Uhh I was going to save money for a M3 but I think I just found something cheaper that will definitely be just as fast. This will be a very hard decision.

STi US is 2.5L -- I've touched one in person

As for a 2.5RS being faster by adding a turbo... maybe, but its geared differently, so it would only be faster in some areas of the power band. And secondly, a higher compression 2.5 with turbo might match a WRX, but the WRX has much more headroom for mods than the RS's 2.5... Now, an STi with 2.5 has lots of headroom for mods

Too bad the fit and finish isn't as nice as the Honda. I just sold my WRX wagon. The Civic uses nicer materials (excluding the MOMO wheel) and is better put together. The WRX feels substantial, because its smaller than the Civic, but weighs about 800lbs more...

they probably took the engine off Legacy and shoved it into the new WRX STi.

and since they have 2.0L WRX STi in other parts of the world, this move to 2.5L in america wont affect their WRC program.
For a change america is getting the most powerful WRX STi [except one-offs like 202 STi], who cares about the displacement.

if STi is priced anywhere near EVO, Mitsubishi will a lot to worry about.
