subwoofer rattles license plate & spoiler...
can anyone help with this problem?
when i have my subwoofer kicking, my rear license plate, and to a lesser extent, my spoiler, vibrate to the point that i hear rattling inside my car. the rattling stops when i get a friend to hold the license plate and spoiler.
unfortunately, my friend cant run fast enough for this to be a practical solution for everyday use.
has anyone else had this problem? any suggestions to get this to stop?
thanks!

try putting some dynamat ( or a substitute product ) on the back of the rear license plate, that should take care of the license plate rattle.
as for the spoiler, first make sure its on tight ( my dealer installed mine wrong, and it was loose ). second, if you take the brake light off of the spoiler ( i'm assuming this is the factory spoiler ), the wiring for the brake light is what is most likely rattling, mine has that split loom covering it, and knocks around the inside of the spoiler, rattling it. you might be able to fix the problem by dynamating the trunk lid, but for a cheaper solution, i would try to do something about the wiring in the spoiler ( maybe use some spray foam ).
my spoiler rattles to, but i am going to be doing either some dynamat, fatmat, or raamat on the trunk lid. i'm hoping that will take care of it for me.

The rear plate location has pads to cushion the plate. It works unless you have a frame around it. Try just screwing on the plate by itself.

hey, thanks everyone for some great ideas.
before i read the replies, i already bent my license plate away from the car so it doesnt touch anymore.
tomorrow, i'm gonna see if i can tighten my spoiler at all.
there never seems to be an end to things that need to be done to the car...
thanks again,
gasboy

I just got some foam tape (sticky on one side, foam on the other side if thats not clear enough) and secured it to the back of my liscense plate. That was just for the rattle when I closed the trunk though.
Here's a cheap, useful suggestion for your license plate. . . take off the license plate holder if you have one and then take a trip 2 good ole' Wal Mart.
Go to the arts N crafts section and look for felt dots with an adhesive backing. Mark off where the license plate is on your bumper, take it off and put them around the edges (but not sticking out). Then when you put the license plate back on you'll notice that the license plate is being held tightly to the felt dots cuz' they fill the empty space between the bumper and license plate. No more license plate rattle.
Also do the DIY where you lower the trunk lock latch, make the the 2 rubber twisty things that stop your trunk a lil' longer and fatmat that ****. Fatmat is much better than dynamat original and raammat original (I won it in the raffle and have used all 3). Not quite as good as dynamat extreme but if you use 2 layers it probably would work better + thats still cheaper. Don't know about using brown bread but mohawkboom always gave it his best regards so it should work good too. Good luck on the rattles.
