A guy I work with drives a ZX2. I've raced him twice and won both times. 2nd gear is your friend. I pulled so hard on him while in 2nd. By 3rd the race was history.

depending on which zx2 it is, they are about the same as the civic. they make a SOHC and a DOHC. i had a DOHC zetec 2.0 liter 16 v with 130 hp and it ran good, beat my friends 94 celica gt and my friends 6th gen civic, all cars were stock at the time and all were 5 speeds.
I sure wish my car was newer

It will basically come down to the driver and the tranny. The zX2 has 130hp at 2500lbs, and the EX has 127 at 2555. Take out your spare tire and such, then try. And what's a "hot" model?

BTW, The ZX2 I raced had 2 10" subs in his trunk and his spare. I had 1 12" solobaric in my trunk with my spare. Both of us are the same size. And my EX still put a car and a half on him.
I have read comparos in MT & CD, both cases although the Ford ZX3 Zetec claims it has 130hp, it didn't reflect in the acceleration times - the Civic LX with less power beat it. I would assume since the ZX2 has the same engine (?) that it would also be just as slow.
Freak, are you saying that his ZX2 is the 'hot' model because it is the sporty edition of the escort (no longer produced), or that it is the VERY RARE ZX2 'S/R' ? If its the S/R, you are in trouble, because it comes stock with aftermarket Intake and exhaust and maybe some other stuff. If it is an S/R, either 'S/R' will be debossed into the rear bumper or there will be an S/R emblem on the left of the trunklid. Otherwise it should be a good race. Good Luck.
