Neuspeed Springs + Stock Shocks, hitting hard!

I have the Neuspeed springs, I have the stock shocks. I have the 2002 coupe. I live in New Hampshire, and I deliever pizza. Sufficet to say our roads totally suck due to the weather and there are lots of speed bumps on my delievery route. My car is hitting very hard on bumps. Why? Are my shocks busted? Do I need some better aftermarket springs, prehaps something stiffer? Tell me what ya think I need. Something low cost is best, I ain't loaded.
Thanx all, Mark

i'm thinking you didnt cut the bumpstops and you are bottoming out on them...
stiffer springs will only make it "hit harder"
how fast are you taking the speedbumps? remember you have a lowered car.. you should be going slow and in a slight diagonal.
its possible you have blown struts..
konis(only aftermarket shocks available) would help the ride

Well, the speedbumps I am trying to take as slow as possible and they are ok for the most part. It is the regular road ruts that are causing the most trouble for me. We of course have winter here and we have alot of road bumps, some which are quite deep. When I run over them I generally here a big bang, which seems to come from the front, not the rear.

ya i hear it from the front too. thats if i hit a dip reallly hard/fast... i'm not sure if its cause i didnt cut the bumpstops or if its just cause they're stiff... neuspeed doesnt recommend you cut the front but i know goldline does..

Mark - are you riding on Neuspeed Sport or Race springs? I have the race, sounds like the same kind of ride I am getting.

Sounds to me like you didn't cut the bump stops. You shouldn't be bottoming out unless you are going too fast or the road is VERY bumpy or something similar.

I am sorry but I hope you don't have "race" springs. Race springs are for just that, racing or showing....they actually hinder handling on the street...If you do have race springs then there really isn't a whole lot that can be done. You can get new struts but an inch or two of travel isn't going to do well anywhere but the race track.

Ok, I called Neuspeed. They feel that the stock shocks are just too weak with the sport springs. Their koni Neuspeeds are supposed to help with bottoming out. That is their solution anyhow. I am buying the front ones for now. I will probably get the back ones too, those are some damn expensive shocks. Way more expensive than the springs. At any rate, I will tell ya if it helps at all. But yeah, roads up here are VERY bumpy. We get snow, we get ice, we get cold. And the roads get potholes. I think I gotta move to San Diego or Miami. See some cute Asian or Hispanic girls and have a nice flat, sweet road for my civic! Plus I bet there is a million times larger pimped out civic community in such places. At least I have a track like 2 miles down the street. Oh well. -Mark

Just got my front Neuspeed Koni Yellows installed today. I gotta figure out where I wanna set the stiffness thing, but most importantly there does not appear to be any more front bottom-out. Sounds much better on bumps. I recommend them if you have the Neuspeed Sport Springs.

sKwiD is on a distinguished road
How much did you get the Koni Yellows for? Good to hear that your problems are resolved Oh, and are you on stock or aftermarket wheels? I'd recommend the stock wheels if you're driving in the winter with snow and ice and potholes and such.... I've hit a few potholes in my 17"s before too, and I hear that big thump sound, and my radio would go out for a second, and all you could hear is me yelling my off!!!!
