Auto EX Sdn vs Auto LX Sdn
Auto EX Sdn vs Auto LX Sdn
Today I decided to go ahead and put my EX and Vtec to a test.
One of my close chick friends has a 2k2 Nighthawk Black LX Sdn with an Auto Tranny. I have the same thing except an EX version. Her and I both are not racers; unless u consider mashing the pedal down off a street stop light, racer proficient...
Anyways we did three runs.
The first run was actually a screw up and she ended up starting off the line before I did. However as I hit the end of 2nd gear my car (EX) started to slowly creep up and even out with hers. By the end of 3rd I was about half a car ahead of her then we finally slowed down as we approached our second starting point.
The second run was dead even. We both launched at the same time, however strangely enough her car seemed to shift at a higher RPM then mine? We were even through 1st and onto 2nd. However by the end of second my car started to creep ahead. Once again by the end of 3rd I was almost a whole car lengths ahead of her.
For our third run we decided to switch cars. Just to see if there was any driver’s edge within the runs. We both launched at the same time and were even throughout 1st as usual. But again by the end of second she (EX) started to creep away and by third was about 3/4ths a car length in front of me (LX).
Her car was empty as was mine. No mechanical problems etc. Both cars are in top-notch condition. Both cars were driven in D and not D3, 2, etc...
Basically the EX has the edge. Stock Sedan wise. In my opinion all those whom disagree probably haven't raced fairly and or own an LX.

GO VTEC! I swear if I had an LX, i wouldn't feel proud of driving it at all because of the abcense of VTEC. HAHAHA. Even though I can't really feel VTEC
At least I know I have it!
At least I know I have it! Fly, are you saying that VTEC loses its advantage with a manual transmission? That doesn't really make sense "The EX has a high chance of loosing if you put 2 manuals LX/EX together." Take VTECDUDE's race, and give him and his friend a manual.. i dont think there is a higher chance for any car

Nah man, i'm not saying that. WIth automatics the cars will shift the same(relatively) so you basically just press the gas and who has the faster car wins. With a manual there are other factors that go into winning a race. One person might pop the clutch and launch at 2700 rpms while the other might feather the clutch so that they can launch at 5000 rpm. People will shift at different rpms, some can clutch in faster, etc.
I'm just saying that there are a lot more variables that go into a manual race. Thats all. Of course the EX still has the advantage. But it is totally possible for an LX to beat an EX in a manual race.
True fly, but on the other hand, isnt there a chance that the EX WILL BEAT the LX in a race? (manuals) If both drivers drove equally, then the EX should come out on top correct?
Yeah I've also raced my friends 2001 LX Sedan auto and he has 21k miles, he used to beat me all the time, left and right, but with my CAI, he still beats me up til around 40MPH then I start pulling on him like mad... and shut it down at 80 MPH,ive put 2 car lengths on him (before the CAI, he put 2 car lengths on me) And for some reason, his car seems to shift a bit later than mine.. which doesnt make sense.
