Post Launching Techniques
I have a 2001 EX 5spd with a Centerforce Dual Friction clutch and I usually dump it around 4000 rpms. I've tried a bunch of other launches but this is the best one. I still have a good amount of tire spin though.

I go to about 3,500rpm and I feather the clutch a little bit. I mostly just slam it though. I feather it enough to prevent wheel hop. Then I let off the gas a little bit if I get too much tire spin and not enough hook up. If I just get a little tire spin at the beginning, then I'm all set. I go to WOT and let her rip through the rest of first gear all the way up to about 30mph. If you shift before then (even if you're at redline) then you'll be in a lower rpm range in 2nd gear and you'll have a sucky 1/4 mile time.
See, you can't just let the tires spin all the way to redline. Here's a scenario... Launch at 4,000rpm and engage the clutch rapidly. You get wheel hop at the beginning, but you still step on the gas and shift at redline. Now, since your wheels were mostly spinning and not hooking up you'll have a speed lower than 30mph when you go to shift to 2nd. Then you're basically screwed since you won't have enough torque in 2nd at lower rpm's. Just remember to spin the wheels for a good part of the launch, but to hook up ASAP and not shift to second before the potential for acceleration in 1st is up.

2002 5 speed....sometimes i just rev to 3 or 35 grand then pop the clutch, and that does a good job, but lately i have been reving right before the light turnes green then let go and as the rpm's drop to arround 3grand i am ready to pop it and go when it is green! I raced my friend in a cavalier tonight and i pulled on his car the hole way!! lol
when using my stock tires i stage at 4000-4500rpm depends on the temp.,when i experience tire spin i do throttle controlling but when i'm with my slicks i stage at 6000rpm

well when i launch in my automatci, I put it in Neutral....ha ha ha jk I dont do Neutral drops. Actually, I just have it on D4 and hold the brake down and gas it to 2500 and then let go of the brake. hhahaha. Peels out preety nice but sounds REALLY good in the parking garage and on speed bumps covered in yellow paint AHAHAHA.
i dont just dump the clutch, i let it out at a moderate speed from 4k or 5k rpm.

i dont find this funny. you obviously dont know jack about driving your car, and only care about the image your civic gives to other people.
here's a tip: learn before you post, then maybe your posts will have some substance to them. all i ever see from you is pathetic attempts at jokes.

I feather it (lightly) from a stop at about 3500-4000. After that I shift close to redline, usually about 6700-6800.
Stock clutch. 5 speed EX.
Do you guys gut your car at the track or leave it as is? I only ask this because some of my friends leave it as is so they know what kind of time their daily driven car can run. Makes sense I guess.

2001 DX 5-speed Sedan...
Factory everything..
rev up to about 2500, start engaging the clutch.. throttle about 75% but fluctuating pending tire spin..ease quickly into full clutch engagement. No wheel hop.. minimal tire spin, I always burn my friend's RSX-S off and my dads 97 Ranger 4.0L ..
My way really isn't good for the clutch..I'm suprised mine's still alive...but it equates to a more controlled faster launch and better 60' times...
last year, the last run I made with my sub in the trunk, 170lbs of sound deadening about 270lbs extra weight total and 220lbs of me on a 1335ft track I ran a 16.89 with my A/C on (:_doh Might not sound like a great time...but for a heavy car, stock everything, and bald Firestones it was a dang good time..

Hold 3k and feather the clutch out...I find this is best with a little bit of spinning...absolute murder on the clutch though...Hardly ever do it that way.
Otherwise, I don't hold any rpms and feather the clutch.

well, before i got my yokohama's, i'd feather it around 3k, and then just let my stockies slip till i got traction. now, i drop around 3500, and the yoko's bite really hard and i get maybe a little chirp. i think this is probably horrible for my tranny though

Actually, I am pretty sure the rev limiter kicks @ 7200 rpm on the ex models.
I have an 02 EX and I'm almost 100% sure it cuts at 7100, the redline is at 6800/6900. Too tired to think right now, but I know I can pass 7K.
