Spring lowering clamps.. too ghetto?

I was wondering if anyone has ever used these before on their Civic. I know its a cheezy way to lower but still makes me wonder if its been done successfully and if there were any problems..

Whatya think?

I think stock springs weren't made to be clamped. It'll probably make for an uncomfortable ride and I'd think you'd be much better off with just getting aftermarket springs.

Don't do that. It looks like it will bind and make a ton of noise. You don't have the full suspension travel either, so for large bumps you'll feel a shock so frickin' big that you'll scare the ish out of yourself.

OMG!! lol, someone told me about that in my automotive class im taking. He was explaining it but still wasnt sure how it will look like till now. Damn feel sorry for the spring. I think it was like $30 each, I rather pay an extra $60 for lowering springs.

Yep. We had them things back in the 50's when you couldn't even get aftermarket springs. Also had lowering blocks for leaf springs and wedges for raising springs. None of that stuff is much good for very long.

Well, I was going to the spring compressor things when I first got my car until I found one in the street snapped in two. Then I realized how dangerous that could be so I just left it.

And I had blocks on my Sonoma....that was a $19 3" drop. Dang that thing was so much easier to drop than these things.
