The Results are in from my first runs at the new Si
Well I meet of with the guy from EPHatch.com and we stood around and talked for almost an hour, trading car stories and checking out each others engines.
02 EX Specs:
- Driver weight (250lbs, yes i'm a fata$$)
- AEM Intake w/bypass
- Sound System(+50lbs)
- No weight reduction (i.e. no removal of spare tire or seats)
02 Si Specs:
- Driver weight (170lbs)
- AEM intake
- Lowered with Sprint springs
- Aftermarket 17" wheels
- PS2 with motorized lcd monitor (no sound system)
- No weight reduction (i.e. no removal of spare tire or seats)
So we decide to drive out to this industrial plant that has nice long straight roads. We pull up side by side and start revving our engines. The Si gives 3 horn blast and we take off for our first run. In 1st I pull nicely on him putting about half a car between us. Into second, I'm holding on him. But at the end of second and into third it's almost as if I come to a complete stop. The damn Si pulled so hard going into 3rd he put a car length on me easy as we shut down the engines.
Si = 1
EX = 0
Next run. We turn around and go back to the line to get setup again. Rev up the engines, 3 horn blasts and we take off again. In first, I get a nice jump again and he is at my rear fender. While in first I all of a sudden hear this "CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK" coming from his car. He is hitting his rev limiter and hasn't shifted yet. Into second he pulls even at the end of second. By third, the story is over and he is a car ahead of me again, just like the last time.
Si = 2
EX = 0
I have a new respect for the Si. 2nd and 3rd gear are killer on that car. We will be racing again to continue somemore runs especially once the track opens up in February. Good Job
to the Si.
Sorry guys. Maybe next time.

So sounds like it's driver's race, but there is an advantage to the Si.
He hit his rev limiter. In other words he ****ed up the run and yet still won. Driver's race my ***.
They didn't even run the whole quarter mile as the Si has to go into fourth to finish the quarter mile so the difference would've been even greater.

Anyhow, sounds like you guys ran a pretty good race and it is a close match up to 50mph or so. We also have no idea how good of a driver Fly is...
Here is a few for Fly and the other guy.
Look. The Si's K20A3 has close to 120 footpounds of torque at the wheels at about 2500RPM. There is no way an EX should take it off the line. The fact that it did, shows that the EX driver knew how to launch his car better. So he got a better launch, then the guy in the Si hit the rev limiter. A double whammy and still the Si won. If these two really were a driver's race, then with an equal start, if the Si driver hit the rev limiter, he would've got spanked. That he still won, clearly shows that these two cars are definitely NOT a driver's race.

you just dont get it do you, .5 seconds from 0-60 is not a driver race, its more than likely a full second in 1/4 mile, we know fly is a decent driver because he got the launch by almost a full car evey time ....the rest is just keep it floored and shift twice ..not too much skill involved there, **S2000man ricer logic** OMG DUDE I've like seen 2 S2000's do the 1/4 mile in 14.6 seconds so that must mean that all S2000's do that and I've seen like one 2002 Civic Si do the 1/4 mile in 15.6 stock so that means they all do and even though thats a full second dude thats like....a drivers race cuz a full second (3 to 4 cars) is no room for error. one more quick thing::: yes my f*****g post is probably running rampid with f*****g spelling and grammatical error and no you rice ****tard your not worth me reading my post a second time to correc them

I already mentioned the attitude a lot (not all) of these guys have. They bought a car that hardly anyone likes on a subjective basis and lacks the performance that the market wanted on an objective basis. Put those 2 together and you get why the si isn't selling. Now, one can understand why the current si owners are so desperate to defend the cars they drive - they're sore about it.

As for you my friend, your posts are so ignorant and full of anger that you don't even deserve a response. Just knowing that the blood vessels in your forehead probably popped you headgear off is satisfaction enough.

That's probably a record for quickest banned.
And by the way..... about the driver's race.... I believe I misread the post then. I thought was he was saying was that by the END of THIRD the Si only had a car length on him on both races. 1 car length at 80 or 90mph or whatever, is a driver's race to me. But if they only went to end of 2nd gear (hence 60mph) then who knows.

yes, now I see they only ran til about 3rd gear, at which point he had a car length and was pulling. So no, it's not a driver's race. I apologize and retract my previous statement. We all make mistakes you know.
Now you can all get off my back, and personal attacks will NOT BE TOLERATED. PERIOD. You have been warned.

I just want to re-assure everyone that not all ep owners are like this clown. I like my car, and don't give a rip what anyone else thinks. Im paying for it, and Im enjoying it.
dont let this goon reflect our crew. The majority of ep owners seem to be in their upper 20's. Usually a more mature crowd.
Basically, dont hate me becuase of this mongoloid. I used to drive an LX u know

Anyways, enough of that. If you look at my post history, you will see that I have never attacked any of your rides. As for hahausux and his bag on the head friends...I don't know who these guys are, but I'm sure they are not representative of the ephatch or clubrsx community on the whole.

well i know you aren't some a*****e, since i've known you for quite a bit over on clubrsx. I certainly don't portray a holier than thou attitude, and don't mean to sound like i know it all in any way. when i'm wrong i'll gladly admit it. as i did in the above post.
Told ya it would happen.......multiple times.......but props for going out and proving me right
lol j/k dude I give you
for helping to settle the pointless debate. Now I gotta go to my Honda dealer tomorrow.....they have '02 Si's advertised for $14,998.

I'm the guy that flyrice ran. To clarify "its not a drivers race". We launched off the old 3honk start. So as soon as I hit the horn the 3rd time he was taking off leaving me to drop the clutch. I have 17in rims on 215/40 series dunlop. Not the best tire. In first gear the tires were spinning bouncing off the rev limiter. I say he got the jump a half car, but as soon as they grabed I was shifting into second pulling hard by the time I was going into third I was a car ahead and shut it down in the middle of third. There was no need to push any harder for a street race. I car crosses the 1/4 mile in 4. Therefor there is no drivers race. Maybe if I miss a gear u can call it a drivers race. It was a fun race we both have honda's and its nothing to really flame about we should be faster.

"It's your "I know everything" holier than though attitude"
sounds like a lot of people on ephatch.com
What ever happened to the ITR beating with the double clutch ep hatch owner SiRicer?

I think S200man is a pretty knowledgable person... ive seen his posts and replies... you guys shouldn't bash people for knowing their ****.... if he knows it, more power to him, and if it seems like he has an "i know it all attitude" ... let him.. especially cause he does have a very very good knowledge of cars. you guys are just jealous. i like members i can learn from. this is just my true honest opinion and i hope it dont look like i am kissing *** cause he is a mod... cause i DO NOT kiss ***. =) Credit is given where credit is due!
