the next engine swap for the civc....maybe my red coupe????
Been tossin around which motor to look into..k20a2 or k24 from a new Accord for my red civic.....THEN...i found this. the new acura TSX thats coming out (euro accord) I think it has a good mix of usable horsepower and torque when compared to a K20a2
TSX:
2.4 Liter DOHC, I-VTEC
200 Horsepower@6800 rpm; 166lbs-ft of Torque@4500 rpm
5 sp sequential auto transmission (sportshift) or
6 sp close ratio manual transmission
Drive by wire throttle system
Double wishbone suspension
VSA
17 inch Alloy whls P215/50 R 17 Tires
Dual stage airbags, side airbags and side curtain airbags
HID headlights
Navi system with voice recognition (optional)
perforated leather seats
dual zone auto climate control
360 total watts audio system with 8 speakers and 6 disc in dash
RSX-S:
The RSX Type-S engine puts out 200 hp at 7400 rpm and reaches its peak torque of 142 lb.-ft. at 6,000 rpm. That works out to 100 horsepower per liter-one of the highest specific outputs of any production engine in the world. Even with all this power, the RSX Type-S still achieves an estimated EPA fuel economy of 24/31 mpg (city/highway). And the California Air Resources Board (CARB) has rated the RSX Type-S a LEV-II (Low Emission Vehicle II), by its standards for 2004.
There may be a kit to hold the k24 at sometime

I would love to see something like that, the mounts wont be your only problem though, but if you do go through with it, make sure you keep us informed every step of the way as well as pics.

what about wedging in a 2.4 liter engine into the bay where a 1.7 liter is a tight fit? what about the drive by wire throttle system, could that be converted to convential or would their be a way to convert the civics controls to drive by wire?

i think the TSX motor will be a variant of the current K24 on the CR-V and Accord 4 cyl... which may fit just fine in a civic engine bay[hr]

the engine in the new TSX is a more powerful engine.
200 hp @ 6,800 rpm and 166 lbs-ft of torque @4500 rpm
more horsepower through out the powerband and DEFINITELY more torque through the powerband.
I mean, lots of us seem to think that our engine is so much more powerful than previous gen just cuz its .1 liter more (actually more like only 70 cc more) so how about .4 liter more of displacement??
I'll take that over a K20 any day of the weak.
the Type R engine is just expensive IMO, and for that price, I rather have the Type S engine to work in a turbo.
if u got the dough Greg, go for the TSX. heh.
I'm sure the gear ratio will be just as aggressive as the Type S's.
btw, nice banner there. neato.
