AEM Pulleys = No Beats?
Im interested in buying the AEM Power Pulleys, and I have heard that they actually give some power. Anyways, I was wondering if you cant have a powerful system with these installed. Do they take power away from everything else? And realistically, will it be okay to have these installed if I am pushing two 12's, an amp, and a deck?
thanks!

well think about it. pulleys add power because the are bigger than stock pulleys. witch means they have to turn less times to do they same as the smaller stock pulley so yes the ac wouldnt be a cold as it was before ect..

Gee, thanks for the info! Maybe I will think, or maybe not...
Sooo....
With AEM Pulleys installed, I can not have beats? They will not work, or my power will die? What will happen?
If someone replies, could you please answer... And save the sarcasm, I am not a engine or car part pro. I jus like Civics! haha

With my unorthodox pullies, the alternator pulley was the same size the stock one, it was machined and an aluminum alloy. the crank pulley was the only thing that was a different size. Don't know if you were interested in that brand just thought would throw that out there.

It shouldn't be a problem unless you have a very powerful system. If you are worried about it draining your battery, you can always get a cap which will power your system so your alt can give your battery juice...

I've got both AEM pullies installed on my ride AND have a nice system... have no problems at all. Look at my members rides, but basically I have upgraded my battery to optima, installed a 2.0 F cap, use 0 gauge power/ground wire, and am running DVD, LCD, a 1 sub amp for my 2 12's, 2 50x2 amps for my mids/highs, and a crossover... oh and a few neons too.. I've had this setup for a while now and don't notice any electrical power loss... PM me if you have any more quetsions about the pullies...

For looks AEM, performance - Unorthadox has a great rep for it, and I believe they're less expensive.

Looks and beats are most important to me...
But speed is not that low on my list...
My car is bone stock right now...
My AEM CAI and DC Headers are on the way. I was thinking of getting a Cam Gear and Pulleys also. In the summer Im gonna do catback exhaust.
I live in Seattle so I dont want my shiny exhaust all dull in the summer!
But yeah, I appreciate all the feedback. I think I am gonna go ahead with the Pulleys and eventually get an Optima Battery. My GF works at CarToys so I can get them for half price...

HAHA (that is a joke by the way)
AND THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE FEEDBACK!!!

You beat me on that one! It depends where you want gains man, if you want a better speed (not a huge gain) then get them. They actually will not help at all for a 1/4 mile time. If I may ask, is the reason you're getting them for looks or performance?

Your trying to tell us you put a CAI and header on your car and you didnt feel a difference? I think your out of your mind....i noticed a difference when i had just a CAI on there...well you did get DC header...probably canceled out the gains of the CAI

I got AEM pulleys installed about 6 mo. ago and I got no problems so far.
Just a few days ago my AC stoped working and I thought that maybe the pulleys had to do something to do with it. But , it was just a blown fuse.
The installation can be tricky if you are not mechanicaly inclined.
You'll need to remove the alternator I actualy broke the bold that ground the wire on the alternator when I tried to loseing it. It was a pain to fixed.
An airgun will help a lot when removing the factory pulleys, as well as the service manual.
Intallation can be a lot easier if you jack the car up and remove the drivers side tire.
I liked,
The looks.
The gain is minimal but it complements other speed parts like NOS, and other bolt on parts.
Together as a package they do make some difference.
I didn't like:
When runing the engine the pulleys appeared to run a bit warped and not nice and straight like OEM.
Just my .02c
Good luck

The amout of power loss is neglagent. If your going to run a big system in our civics upgrade your ground wire from te battery. Thi will give the amp a stronger path to ground. Make it the same as the gage as the power wire your running. Thi is what I did and I didnt notice a thing with system installed, and i do this every day at my shop.

the seat of the pants dyno readings differ from *** to ***.
FEELING gains will be different from person to person.
The pullies...no matter wich brand don't make HP but free up a little bit from moving your pullies. Not alot probably 1-2 HP if that. Get that optima abttery and you'll be fine.
