Yeah, you can't compare my price to a phone bought with a 2 year contract. These phones still sell in the $180-$225 range used. I can get you a sim card and activation for free.

It's less the phone than the GSM network itself. The problem is GSM is designed for city use, so it requires lots of towers in a small area to function well. In Canada the place is so big (and Rogers wants as much coverage as possible) that the towers are too far spread out. Without antennas the smaller phones can't produce from the weak signals very well. My friend who works for Rogers says that the 8390 is one of the better phones, surprisingly the T68i has even worse reception.
That's why Telus and the 1x CDMA is kicking *** for reception, a much higher frequency that isn't affected by normal signals from other things, and designed to cover a much larger area.
Anyway, Vince, same offer $100 if you can't get rid of that phone.

Actually... the reception i've been getting on GSM has been really improving. I used to have to move to one side of my keyboard to get reception, while if I was on the other I would get no signal at all (shows I'm at my comp too much). The 8390 is probably one of the better reception phones. Microcell's (Fido, SimPro) GSM is pretty good right now, those guys get reception almost anywhere... the main area to worry about is Markham/Richmond Hill for me.
Thanks, Aaron, i'll keep your offer in mind. But if it comes down to selling it for so little i'll just give it to someone for Chirstmas. Take care man.
Vince.

dont talk about the reception on 8390...i got no service on my phone for the whole weekend
test the network with my sister's T68i and it was fine (can receive and dial out)
i am so ready to sell the POS and get something that has reception and my phone is only 3 months old.

if u do find them for $105 each, do let me know and i will order 300 of them and make profit
flash software on all Nokia phones are $25
unlocking T68 or 68i is around $60 because there's 4 things to unlock and require flash the software
unlock Nokia phones is around $50-$60 as well
i think my next phone will be the Panasonic GD87 or Samsung S100/105
