Cool Place To Install Mini-Tachometer
Cool Place To Install Mini-Tachometer
One day during the summer I decided I needed a tach so I went to Pep Boys and bought a SunPro mini tach for I think around $30. Wired it up and installed it in front of the gauage cluster right outside any visible readings. Getting a whole new gauge cluster was too expensive. This was a cheap, easy alternative. The base is kind of cheezy, but when you sit back you can't see it and it looks great at night. It's very accurate. Works well. A great alternative to 12 inch windshield blocking tachometers.
They're large, so be careful if you're on a 56k.

Nice. Just what I've been looking for to add on to my DX.
Few questions:
Was the wiring easy to hook-up ? Do you have details ?
Did you have to remove any panel to install the base ?
Thanks

I've been tempted to do the same. I'll probably get that tach from pep boys this weekend and check it out. I wonder if there's a way to actually mount that tach in the left side of the gauge cluster, since there's nothing there?
I've shrunk those pics of yours to view in the thread.

Wow it's really cool that you would mention that bellz. I've mentioned that before in some other thread. I've thought about taking the gauge cluster apart and taking apart the tach I have now, drilling a small hole in one of those areas where nothing is going and just attach the needle. Pull the gauge off the tach and put it in that circle, i think it fits perfectly too....But... Those clusters are hella-expensive so I don't really wanna mess around with it. This setup is fine for now, but if you do it let me know how it comes out.

Did you get to set the redline yourself on that? Is there a shift light?[hr]
