ya you can install them in the states, then you can just say you've had them on your car for a while, put your old ones in the trunk and just tell customs you were gonna sell them to some guy in lackawana but he didn't want them.

ahh, i got it now, i think. its realy hard to tell how much they'll cost you. i know on new merchandise you pay bout #0% on the price of it in usd. for used though i don't realy know. your best bet is to check with custome. you may not even have to pay. you could just say they were yours and you left them down there and your gettin them shipped back.

What's going to happen is you'll have to pay for duty (taxes) which is taxed on the value of the merchandise. If it's used you can have the guy send it as a gift and you may not have to pay duty, the only catch is if you insure it, they may tax you on the insured value. Brokerage fees are inccured by the shipping company (FedEx, Purolator, UPS, USPS), they charge you a fee to handle the item at customs. The cheapest is through USPS, but they tend to take longer to ship.

So if your friend in the states send the package and writes $150 as the value, you'll get taxed on approx $225 CDN, and pay roughly a $30-50 brokerage fee as well.

so i will let the guy say that they are used, and that it is a gift, and wish for the best, but isnt tax like 15%, so of $225 thats $35 and another 35 fees thats $70, that still is a good deal.

Actually, items valued less than $200US is tax exempt!!

You will have to pay brokerage in the end most likely, but that's usually $20CDN or so. People don't scare this guy.

Haha, np. People are always worried about custom taxing the sh|t out of stuff, but that usually applies to big items like kits and rims and stuff. I've actually called both UPS and FedEx (my work deals with them often) and was told by both of the $200. I've had two dash kit shipped from Florida, first was $190US returned (ouch) and $200US for second (on my car now) but I didn't get taxed either time. Neither did I get taxed for the RSX sway bar that I got, which was in a huge box, but no tax not even brokerage.
