racing seats...
i just had a thought... for those of you who have racing seats, after you reset your srs light, does your safety belt light stay on when you use the harness instead of the stock seat belt? if you use harnesses how do you get the seat belt light to turn off? thanx.
good question, perhaps u could ghetto rig it and jam a piece of metal into the seat belt clamp, tricking it into thinking that its the seatbelt making contact with the clamp? lol that was a dumb idea
If your refering to the standard seat belt mechanism that tells whether or not your seatbelt is plugged in, im not sure how to get around that except to cut the buckle off of the belt and leave it plugged in while you use a different type of seatbelt harness. im sure if you dig deep enough, you can completely remove the OEM seatbelt system and undo the harness that recognizes the seatbelt. im sure there is a possibility that the light might not go off, but its worth a try.... if you havent already tried this?
if your talkin about your SRS light that has come on, its because the computer recognized that you unplugged the SRS system from the OEM seats, in which case, you need to reset your ecu. im not sure if the standard reset methods that we do here on the site will work for that, but i remember when mine came on from unbolting my passenger seat when installing my stereo system. the guys down at honda were nice enough to reset the computer for me at free of charge. normally the charge about $100 for that service....

In a Coupe you can probably un bolt the bottom rail that the belt slides on, take off the belt then run it under the seat... sew or rivet the belt to the floor so it doesn't stick up, then buckle it in from underneath. Or you can probably just go to a junk yard and buy a Honda seat buckle (I'd imagine they're all the same) and put it in so the light shuts off.

ahright, well here's the deal. i have some corbeau A4's with 3 point double release harnesses on the way. i already know how to reset the srs light from when i gutted my interior to run my audio wiring. i plan on taking all the seat belts and and buckles from my car and pulling the rear seat completely out. i was wondering that by doing so, how the heck am i suppose to turn off the damn LED in the dash. can i just cut the harness and wire them together somehow so the circuit is complete? keep in mind it's michigan, it's cold, and i don't want to be outside gutting my car for very long. nfo any1?

so what you're saying is that if i get pulled over just wearing the harness, i get a ticket? what the hell is the point of keeping the oem seat belt in your car if you're not using it? there has to be a way to wire up the seat belt light so it stays off all the time. this sux. i was so stoked to take out all the seatbelts and the rear seat, but now i have to reconsider...
i don't know how it's done, but yes, you can turn off the seat belt light. it also stops that annoying beep for when you don't have it buckled. i wear my 4 point harness when i drive, i haven't gotten a ticket for it yet since it's not illegal in cali. anyways, i dont' even have a factory buckle in the middle, they were removed. i still have the annoying factory belt though. anyways, i'm sure there's a pair of wires you splice together to turn it off.
now, if only i had time to reset my SRS light i'd be in business.

thanx liquid. i was actually starting to get annoyed by the fact that there may be no way to turn that damn light noise off when i install my racing seats. on your harness did you bolt it down using the rear seat safety belt anchors or somewhere else?
I would think that it would be simple to defeat that light. I know for lights such as interior or even the emergency break light, that it just has to do with grounding. Such as on the e-brake. When you pull it up it grounds the circuit and the light comes on. I would imagine that the buckle assembly is along the same lines.

is the ground wire in the buckle or in the harness bundle or somewhere else? wait...wouldn't i have to ground the wire to turn it off, since the light is on until you buckle it. can i assume that by grounding the wire the light will turn off?
