What all is involved in installing a Carbon Fiber hood?

Once you get the hood, what do you have to do? You need hood pins to secure it with, right? I guess they probably aren't too hard to install. Um, so does it attach onto the back by the windshield like the stock hood does? Can you raise and lower it like the stock one, or does it come off completely when you need access to the engine?

Just curious. Thanks.

mine just bolted on with the stock bolts, and raised and closed just like the stock hood. had to adjust it some and spend quite a bit of time fooling with it so it would latch right, but once i got it, it closed tight enough that it wouldnt have even needed hood pins.

The ones I've seen just bolt up to the stock locations, however if you do much highway driving I'd suggest the hood pins as well..... the cf hood I saw was on the way up to out Toledo meet, that thing shook all over the place! (But it looked sweet) The pins didn't not hard to put in, they bolted to two existing holes in the frame and I'm guessing you drill the holes out on the hood to put the pin through. This is one of the things on my to-do list for my car

I disagree COMPLETELY. I put a Carbon Fiber Hood on my car and lemme tell you, i had it on for a week, and got rid of it. The problem was my auto-body had to bend around the stock fenders and stock bars to position the hood correctly. Then I thought I can get away without hood pins and every time i went on the highway, the hood started wobbling like it was going to snap off (considering that the U pin that holds it down is only GLUE, not welding! Then I found out it is a pain in the * * * to put on hood pins, because you can crack the hood, and it's a one-time-shot.
