hmm, considering i don't care what any one of you thinks, i like that look. looks really good and it'll give you a few extra points at the shows. why do i care how fast my civic is..hmmm...if i wanted it to be fast i wouldn't have put on a heavy body kit and rims in the first place.

and now rice is being defined as ANY modification that doesn't provide HP gains?! i think some of you are way too cought up in the "rice" stereotype and are blowing everything out of porportion. need to chill out a bit.

people have always known that aftermarket shiet that doesnt boost power is usually rice. what would make that not ricey would be if he removed the a/c, and ventilation equip, then cut a hole in the top for air to pour in through it.

ohh i bet. if i put that roof scoop on my ride i'll definatley take to it with a big saw and cut away. make myself a little ghetto sunroof in a way. haha. in the meantime i'll be sure to rip out my entire a\c unit, back seats and passenger seats, rip out all my carpet (to much weight) and remove my center console. then my car will be fast! and best of all not ricey! yesss.

I was thinking about it, and I were to do anything to the roof i think i would try to make a targa top for it. The roof scoop looks good but it has no function what so ever. Not only would it possibly slow you down, it may make it harder to handle in higher speeds too. I dunno just my opinion though.

Nutz glad i could answer ur question throught a pm. Also Elite so what ur saying is that masartis are rice because they are automatics and have tachometers, they also have paddle shift like lots of people purchase through levelten transmition which allows them to shift faster than any 5 or 6 speed.

I think people should do what they want to their cars as long as they like it... sure you gotta impress the ladies but they are easy to please when it comes to cars... anyways, this goes for everyone... you shouldn't give a shi if people call a modification to your car "rice" Tell them to eat a hee haa ...works like a charm. On a persoanl note... I'd love to have a roof sccop for my car, but it would make my sun roof useless (one time i can say stupid ex) but hmmm that gives me an idea... what if i kept the sunroof put a roof scoop on and on hot days i could open the sunroof and get some MAJOR ventilation in my car... haha! If your guys' def. of rice is "anything that doesn't add power" or "anything that doesn't serve a purpose." Well guess what... everything serves a purpose. Rims, body kits, spoilers, paint, altezzas, window tint, and all of that enhance the car aesthetically. Air conditioning & new seats increase the comfort level. A stereo increases the fun of the trip by giving something to listen to. When you guys give a definition of a riced out car, the only way you could have a non-rice car is to have a frame, shell, no back seats, no dash, all fiberglass body, no AC, no anything that doesn't make the car faster. Its a Civic. It isn't going to be fast, so do what makes you feel better about your car. Do what makes it look better. I like pc's car, and if you don't ok. It doesn't matter either way. Now will someone give the kid a price?

Rice is people that have auto's and move the stick from neutral to D and back and forth when on a hill to simulate the rolling/riding the clutch movements. Rice is people that have auto's and put a shift boot with a short shifter to fool people into thinking they drive a stick. Rice is people that have fake BOV's and no turbo. Rice is people that think they have a fast car when it's a POS Toyota echo and think they can take 30km/m corners at 60. Rice is food for asians. I like noodles.

if your big into drags.. like massivly powerful muscle cars, or 10sec or less cars, it'll help. cuz you dont have to look at your tach to know when to shift. when the bright light turns on, you shift. lets you concentrate more on driving better than paying close attention to your tach. well thats my opinion.

and i guess a stock EX auto civic is rice cuz it came with a tach

Rice a wanna be, but cannot achieve it only by looks that is the correct term of it. Get it?!?!?! eg. get a stick shift boot, with an automatic and tachometer. Body kits and rims don't matter cuz its not about that, scope ya fo sho, can only achieve it by looks. Or wing, you don't need one but, you want looks go ahead, rice. Thats what I mean.

On the surface it sounds like you're making a point, but your definition of rice, and non-rice is flawed.

Air conditioning, stereo and seats are about comfort, yes. But who said having any of those are ricey?? Neither the anti-rice side or the pro-rice side make it a point of debate. That is absolutely irrelevant to the topic.

My definition of ricey are mods that give the illusion of serving a race/sports purpose, but don't benefit the car at all or ...hurt the car. Also ricey is the purposeless imitation of features that other cars had. Z3 fenders are ricey, whether you like it or not. A roof scoop is the very embodiment of riceness. It increases drag without improving speed, and it is an imitation of cars that really did have a purposeful scoop. Body kits are useless for our cars, because they can't use the speeds where its stability becomes useful.

A car that is not rice does not mean its the polar opposite of rice, I.E. stripping the car of any excess material.


Some people even tried saying that a tach on a 5 spd is rice... I dunno where you get that from.

Maybe if somebody had a valid point, I'd understand, but you don't.

All show no go=rice. Some people like rice, some people don't. You happen to like rice, fine. But don't go on some high-on-a-pedastal crusade to dispel the meaning of rice, because 95% of the populace think altezza's and body kits are ricey.

Who am I to say? You're right. But hey, I didn't make up the word "ricey". Its a general term for certain types of cars, not my fault that somebody made it up. You'll just have to accept it. When I say "show" I mean cars that are meant to look fast. That's why I wouldn't apply the word "rice" to classic cars or 70's American low riders. When you have mods meant for fast cars on slow cars, its deceiving, not to mention giving the rest of us a bad rep. I pay higher insurance for the sake of those who stick gaudy mufflers on their cars but still can't drive.

If you admit that your car's all show, no go, then why does everybody keep talkin about racing? Why do I see Civics wrapped up in plastic trying to race me on the street, or sports cars trying to race me just because I'm in a civic? Cus' you got people out there who take an economy car, put plastic on it and think it becomes a sports car.

i dont necessarily agree with putting monster tachs in cars that are automatic.....i think thats dumb..nor do i agree with what the guy did to his pimp camery[IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-puke.gif[/IMG] in an earlier thread. those are my opinions personally.....but i do agree with buying certain stuff that wont add horsepower and is just for looks which i believe is deemed ricey by all people...what i am sayin is that i would just for looks if i had already created a fast car with an engine swap turbo and nos and everything was perfect running.....i WOULD start buying big wings and a lot of other stuff too that would be considered rice........and im betting a lot of u would too...so can we drop the flaming calling stuff ricey....if someone wants to do it let them......it aint your car......but if it does look really fruity.......i say it is ok to laugh out loud
