My friend just bought an AEM CAI this week and we're plannin on installing it this weekend. He also wants to take out the amber piece in his headlights.

I've heard only two solutions to take out the amber piece. One is that just take apart the headlight assembly and unclip the amber piece...easy as that. The other way is the more "complicated" and reasonable. Put the headlights in an oven for about 7 minutes for around 250degrees and take apart the headlight and pry apart the amber plastic. All in a nutshell...stick it in the oven, open lights, take out piece. right?

i also heard the front bumper will have to be removed. you can tell by my sig pic that i dont drive a civic but how would you go about taking off the bumper? thanks in advance guys. sorry for the long post. seems like i just rambled on

I thought the oven part was only for the sedans... I may be wrong... Its in the DIY section though

Hey yeah i just cleared my lights last week....it was kinda hard getting the black adhesive off...then today my friend told me that i should've put it in the oven for like 3 minutes at like 150 degrees so that the adhesive becomes softer and easier to take apart....too late for that for me though....but yeah you do have to take off the front bumper...which was a piece of cake...just make sure not to let the bumper fall on the ground...the DIY definitely helped!!![IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/IMG]

- I cleared my headlights first try and it was perfect. We didn't heat them up at all, just cut the black sealent and brute force took them apart. Popping the orange piece was the hardest part. Of course, the first headlight took like 4 hours... 2nd one took 20 min lol. Just be careful with everything, two people works best. And if you mess up, just get projectors =)

If your car is new, you don't really have to put your headlights in the oven to soften the silicon, they should already be soft. If you have had your car for like a year, I would put them in the oven. I had no problem prying my headlights apart since I did it not to long after I got my car. Just be careful when prying them apart that you don't snap off the little pieces that the clips hold on to. I accidently did that so I am missing a clip. When you put them back together, be sure to put a nice ring around the headlight backing to keep moisture from getting in. When they are all together, let it dry a little and then go around the crack where both pieces go together with some more silicon. This will ensure a good seal. This is exactly what I did and my headlights have staid dry inside for bout a year now. Have fun!

DIY section on how to clear my headlights, and the AEM comes with pretty
good instructions. well to the rest of you, yes, i am the one who is going to
be installing the CAI and clearing my headlights tomorrow.
