Hey no offense, but...

What's up with people doing swaps? I know this one idiot who paid $21,000 for a used '98 VW Jetta 2.0L Automatic, beause it had low kilos (20,000km or something).. then goes out, spends $8,000 on a VR6 swap with a motor that has well over 100,000km... what's up with that?? If he wanted a VR6 w/stick, he should've bought it right away. Hell, for that $29,000, a BRAND NEW VR6 makes sense!

Same with putting an Si motor plus tranny into an LX.. I think ultimately it would be easier if VicLX sold his car, get the dough and use it to buy a used Si w/stick.. and then go for the turbo. Finding an Si motor (difficult, considering it's a relatively new car) and finding someone who can do the swap is a lot of work & time.. funds for that could pay for the turbo itself.

Hey.. by just trading it in for an Si, you'll have a nice sunroof to play with too!

..... like someone said b4 on this thread, it feels good to beat someone who has....... lets says a beamer or tiburon .with a civic. just the fact that to those other drivers... you beat them with a CIVIC. =)

...and plus, if you have the money... and you enjoy this kind of hobby, i dont see any wrong with it.

i have an lx coupe.. and i may do a conversion myself... but that prolly wont happy for at least another year or two.

Well sure if you want to be different.. but it makes sense to do a conversion to a K20 RSX motor, but to an Si motor? Some people even beleive LX is qiucker.. it's THAT close.

Not worth the upgrade if you ask me. You'll get more out of an intake/exhaust combo.

hahaha
if u think about how much money u gotta spend in addition to the K20 motor
u would need to buy the rsx front subframe and that aint cheap and of course a motor with a tranny
personally i already have a Si/Ex. i wouldnt mind having extra boost ahem ahem 200WHP? ive tap that!

Sorry, I'm confused........ so you want to install the HKS turbo into your car right now, the auto LX? If you can pull that off, that's wicked But I don't think it will be that easy to do.. LX has different compression ratio than the Si... along with different ECU, etc.. plus our auto tranny isn't exactly what you call heavy duty. Additional 100HP will definitely make it crap out..

If you want to go turbo, you gotta go stick.. for durability issues and for turbo-lag issues (our autos have looooong *** gearing). If you can covert the tranny, and work around the other engine issues, it'd be very do-able!

Technically, turbocharging an LX motor makes more sense, since it is lower compression. But I think HKS figured if somebody can afford to buy their $6000 turbokit, then they probably bought the Si anyway. Generally speaking, LX buyers are more value concerned customers (ie - me).

Or you can scrap the whole conversion process and just get the Si w/turbo... but... I don't want to repeat myself again

Oh yeah.. you wanna race the CELICA??
