Type-S Engine Swap Price...

I was talking to the owner of R&D Motorsports via e-mail, and he quoted me $6500 (American) for a complete swap? is that reasonable?

Don't listen to this guy...he obviously doesn't understand the beauty of swapping an engine.

That's a pretty decent price, but it depends on what you're getting. How used is the engine, does it come with everything? (tranny, computer, sub frame, etc)?

Although it can't really be compared to the popular B18C5...the B18's are goin for around 5200 for JUST the engine!

I think HTown paid something around 5000 for the engine, and 2000 for labour...so you'd be sittin pretty if you had the cash and were goin to do the swap!

Good luck!

reasonable? i'm not sure, but that seems to be the price everyone is saying. Personaly, i would rather spend the money on another car, i don't think it's worth putting that much money into a motor swap, IMO.

$6500 is a great price from what I have read on these boards, and the prices some friends came up with. And no you couldn't trade in your civic and buy an RSX (at least a Type S) for that much, and it wouldn't be as fast.

If I did it I would just save the extra bit of money and go for the K20A- more hp and an LSD equipped transmission..ive seen a lot of them popping up on the web now. But thats just me.

$10k from IB...

$6500 is a great deal, but talk to htown. He'll list the parts you need. (Some of them you have to get from the dealer)

Ok, first of all, the D17 engine sucks performance wise. And also, the reason why Im doing the swap is because I want to do it. I love the civic body design and hate the rsx body design. I want the power of the rsx but not the body. Also, I think it would be cool as h*ll to go out a race 2000 si and keep up with/ or even take it with the "slow known" 7th gens. Its all about misillusion baby!

If it included everything I would do it otherwise just wait untill K20's hit the junkyards and get it cheaper.

i think thats a very good price the guys over here want 10 gs to do the swap. people will tell u buy another car for what you lose money that way and u be spending more money, use what you have and go for the swap. look at it this way atleast you have a fast car and a new one.

The Civic is LIGHTER than the RSX-S. So if you put the same engine in a Civic, you stand the chance of eating even RSX-Ss. Go for it man... You just may be stopping for gas a lot more than you're used too.

yes, in some aspects, i agree that it is a waste of money, because when it comes down to it, its just a car. I myself have already dumped about $10 Gs into my ride.... + or - a few hundred, and the point that im at now is.... "WHY DID I SPEND SOO MUCH MONEY ON A CAR?" i guess everyone gets to a certain point where they finally can say that ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!

But on a different note, yes, the K20 swap would be extremely fun to have, as well as very exhilirating to drive and to be able to take those B16's, and maybe even some of those B18's.
$6500 for the K20 swap isnt a bad deal, especially if it includes EVERYTHING. im not talkin about just the engine and tranny and labor, im talkin EVERY LITTLE PART that is needed for this swap.

I wouldnt dare compare any other "K20 swap into a 7thgen chassis" to HTOWNs, just for the sole reason that HTOWN has given so many people HOPE and FAITH that the 7thgen civics can be contenders in many ways. HTOWN is basically a Revolutionary Leader for these up and coming SWAPPERs... but if i had to say that on a financial level, comparitively speaking... the $10Gs that HTOWN had to fork out to get his swap complete, $6500 aint bad at all if its REAL!
