Update on Progress sway bar kit for dx/lx
I've been emailing a guy at Contemporary Motorsports for a few months now about this and he's been very helpful. But it's been some time since we first starting talking about it. So, I went straight to the mfgr and got the official word from them. Below is the email I got back today. The first part is my email to him and his reply below that. I'm so ready to buy this, I'm going nuts !!

Greg,
The hardware kit should be available in 1-2 weeks. I do not have a
retail price for it yet. To my knowledge the hardware kit will only work with
the Progress Anti-roll bar.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I heard as well...
BTW, I love the Progress Group's sway bar and tie bar combination! I will re-paint mine in red to match my color scheme once I get it though.

Michal,
Yes it does. Did your Civic come with a rear sway bar? If not you will
need to purchase an additional mounting kit that will be available in about
2 weeks.

Hey grey, I got my progress rear anti-sway bar last night, and gess what? Remeber how I thought it was just the sway bar? well, it came with the tie bar too! I guess I'll have to get rid of my DC one, but this should be a lot better since its all one piece. I'm going to try and install it tonight before it gets dark. It shouldnt take too long. I'll post pics once its all done.

Yep yep. Excellent choice! I already sold my DC Sports rear tie bar in preparation for the Progress Group's rear sway bar/tie bar combination. It should be an excellent suspension upgrade! So excited! Where did you get yours BTW? How much did you pay?

Grey, I got mine off the group buy center for like 150 and had to pay 29 for shipping but it was still a good deal. I thought it was gunna be just the sway bar but I was happy to get the tie bar too, I've seen these combos sell for close to $300!! Anyways I installed it last night, not sure what to think yet. For one it is hitting my exhaust and also my lower control arms. I'm not sure really what I can do to fix this but its probably not good to hit the lower control arms because my suspension would not be working right. I might have to adjust the brackets and move the sway bar up a little but then it would touch the exhaust even more... arghhh!! The install was OK the hardest part is getting the nut off the endlink because you have to hold an allen wrench in the middle and use a box end wrench on the nut. As for as peformance goes it definitly is a stiffer ride. Cornering was sharper and driving straight felt better too. I heard some weird clanking sounds if I hit a big bump but that was probaly when the bar was hitting the control arms or exhaust. Hopefully when I get home from work tonight I can adjust the bar to make things right! I'll kepp you posted....

Hmm... Not sure what the problem could be? Definately post pics though! Group Buy Center huh... That sounds like a good price. I couldn't find it on there now though... Do you have the URL of the place that you got it from?

Heres the link to the group buy http://www.groupbuycenter.com/buyshortcut.asp?buy=6388 Mine doesnt look blue like the one they show, its just like bare metal. I hope I got an authorized product! Anyways here are some pictures. I adjusted it a little bit and its better but not perfect, I may have to use a hack saw to cut a small piece of metal! Check out these pics and let me know what you think!

Hehe, you installed yours backwards I think... Flip it around like in this picture: Progress Front/Rear Sways Installed-Reviews Thanks for the link to that group buy! I don't care that it's not blue because I will paint it red anyway.
Edit: Is it a solid rod, or is it hollow? It should be solid...

DAMN!! you arent kidding, it looks like mine is backwards, the thing was I was gunna put it on the other way but then there was no way it would have fit, my exhaust would have been like right in the middle of where it goes, WTF! Look in the picture with the exhaust, if the bend was the other way how the hell would I get it to work??? Even if I had stock exhaust it seems impossible... I guess I'll have to take it off and try it again, damn and its dark already...

Is the bar solid or hollow? Just curious...
Um... Your aftermarket exhaust system might be the problem. That sway bar was probably designed to fit the stock exhaust system. Install the sway bar the right way around and try to bend the exhaust system hooks so that the exhaust is moved upwards. If that doesn't work, then you'll have to get it modified by an exhaust shop. Kinda sucks. I won't be in the same boat though 'cause I will actually make my own exhaust system. I can ensure that it has enough clearance if I make it myself.
Oh yeah, are those fake cross-drilled rotors I see?

I guess I'll have to try switching it around because its probably not working the way it was designed. I think if I slide the bar to the right a little it just might clear the exhaust! Or i might try bending the hangers a little. I want this to work!!! I think its solid, it weights like 17 pounds. I could prbobably bend the old bar with my hands but I didnt in case I have to put it back on. Yeah I have some dust shields in back to cover up the rusty drum brakes, I think it looks allright. I'm not to trying to have "fake rotors" or anything.

Oh, right right... "Dust Shields"
Wow, it weighs 17 pounds! That's nuts.
I guess it makes sense to make hollow sway bars then.
The hollow sway bars are lighter, yet still retain much of their strength.
Anyway, let us know how it goes.

holy cow 17 lbs.
my bar weights like 5? or less.

Yeah dude, 22mm. The cross-sectional area of a circle goes up more than linearly with a change in diameter. That's why it weighs so much. The weight kinda sucks, but the improved handling should be well worth it.

Back on track...
Looks like we have a part number for the DX / 2001 LX mounting kit. It's 65.1006!

Michal,
The sway bar you need is 62.0102 for a 2001+ Civic. If your vehicle did not
come with a rear sway bar you also need to purchase the mounting hardware
kit part number 65.1006. Sorry for any confusion, part number 62.1006 does
not exist.

This is the mod I've been waiting for baby. Where do I sign?!??! (aka what's the url)
I've got Autocross on the 19th, maybe I can get them in beforehand. I'm also wondering if you may know what this "hardware kit" is? Is it just something that bolts on to the control arm??

I have no idea where to get it and I have no idea what that hardware kit includes. I've been trying to pump the information out of Progress, but with little luck. Well, I guess you can call Progress (www.progressauto.com) and order directly from them. It'll cost you a pretty penny though.

I just got off the phone with Progress Auto. The representative told me that the hardware kit will be released in about a week for the DX/LX Civics. I asked what the hardware kit consisted of and if there would be any welding. She didn't know. A week!! : )

I'm not sure if she was a tech, but she sounded like she had been asked the same questions 100 hundred times. She was ready with answers and knew exactly what I was talking about...
