A few amp questions

I have a JBL BP 1200.1 amp and I was kinda worried by the things that I have heard about it frying my Electrical system and alternator. I will be running two infinty perfects when I get my replacements, so I will have a lot of power running to each. However, I usually do not crank it up too high, sometimes though.
Is this a safe set-up in your opinion? I have a 60amp fuse running from the battery to my two amps, will this protect my system from drawing to much power (will the fuse blow when too much power is drawn to protect my system?) ?? I'm kinda new to this, because even though I have had "systems" before, I have not installed myself before.
If this is too much power, is it possible for me to wire two subs down up to 4 ohms (and should I do this?)? Would that be enough power for two perfect 10s in a ported box.

Also, If I have the gain and bass boost set halfway does this mean that it draws less power (Half the power?)? I was always curious about this.

Thanx for the help!

I don't know much about JBL amps but isn't the 1200.1 a big amp? 600 watts x 1 @ 4 ohms and 1200 watts x 1 @ 2 ohms. You'll need to run something bigger than a 60 amp fuse, i would probably go 80. I would suggest a capacitor also. 1 farad would be good but you can go 1.5 if you'd like.

I think perfects are single voice coil. I could be wrong, maybe DVC's. If you have DVC's then you can wire them in 4 ohms... if you ahve SVC, then I think the only way you can wire them is in a 2 ohm configuration (parallel wiring). This is what I would do. Those perfects take a lot of power, putting 1200 collectively to both wouldn't be bad.

Check this out for you question about gain.

60 amp fuse will pop at full tilt. we could pop 60's all day putting my 1200.1 in my buddy's volvo.

however, your E-system is way fine to support that amp. your set.

I'm running a BP1200.1 with a 50 amp fuse and actually and I haven't blown it yet, but I don't crank it all the way either...I think either my car would fall apart or my eardrums would bleed.

Plus for a fuse to blow it has to exceed something like twice the rating on the fuse for a certain number of seconds:

check out that site, its awesome. someone posted it on here a few days ago and I've learned more from it about car audio in a few days than I have in the past 3 months.
