VERY serious question
Okay I have developed quite an attachment to my car. I love my car. but.... my mom says that she has to get rid of her crappy suv, and she wants to take over payments on my car. She says it's really up to me, but she's offering to give 5 grand to walk away from my car right now. I'm thinking of getting an RSX then. I'm sorry if it's the darkside. If I do, what kinda payments am I looking at with 5 grand down? RSX and RSX-S? Do you think it might be more worth my while to get a base level then turbo it? I could have swarn that I saw a turbo kit for the base RSX motor when it came in the civic si flavor. Now I'm so confused....maybe I'll just look for a used supra or something, but I like the feel of a new car...

If you want reference, I dropped 5 g down on my Civic. total with tax was about 17,850. And my trade in was only good for 800, so I financed 12g on the 5 year plan with 4.9% Financing and I pay $226.80 a month. So it is managable. I took it for 5 years just in case, but I plan on paying it off faster. With the RSX-S, I don't know how much you can bargain off the sticker, with the base, you can prolly get some knocked off, and some dealers will account for the fact that you are a repeat Honda buyer. Just go and give it a shot, but I think you should be able to manage a base model and not pay much more than a Civic monthly payment.
it depends on
where you live
your interest rate/credit
how long you want the loan
I got 8.9%(I have no credit) for 5 years and my payments are 316.68.
Like Boilermaker1 said, I too plan on paying it off faster, last two payments I sent in were 400.
22,000 for a type S at 4.75 is 650 a month for 36 months
22,000 for a type S at 5.49 is 420 a month for 60 months
Have you thought about a WRX or Eclipse or GTI or Celica or FOCUS!!
k well considering base model rsxs are a joke for civic exs...hmm
when i did use to "race" on the freeway, a base rsx tried to run...from 60 on. i owned him without leaving 3rd yet, then let the engine slow me down by letting off the gas, and owned him again when he caught up.

Are you sure about that? Hmmm....the base RSX is rated at 160 HP at the crank and I'm pretty sure they redline higher than a civic, but hey I dunno I never really paid much attention. Well around here in vegas, it's hard to get a good interest rate...I'm in the military though and the credit union quoted me at 6% back when I was thinking about getting the new si....haha good thing I didn't....I did consider getting a celica back in the day when I bought my civic, but I'm not too crazy about them, the WRX is cool, but I'm not a fan of sedans. I don't think I'd consider a focus unless I was retarded and my face looked like but a GTI sounds like something to think about. There's also a guy that I know who's an auto wholesaler, basically the dealers around here buy their cars off of him, and he said he had an S2000 in red with 24000 miles on it that he could give me for 23000, and he said he has 3 new MR2's, but I don't know about those. I don't really know anything about the MR2's, they never really interested me, but I know my insurance is gonna *** rape me on an S2000.

Actually the RSX/ CSi redline is the same 6800 as the Civic EX. The RSX-S has the 8500 or 9000 RPM redline And they're heavier... the extra power is needed to get them moving. With a couple bolt ons, you can have a Civic running right with them. Get Honda Financing... It's usually less than the bank... if you need credit, get your mom to co-sign the loan (assuming her credit is good). My dad co-signed mine, that's how I got the low rate.
GTis are fast and very tunable, but you run in to VW reliability problems. So it depends how long you plan on keeping it. But the warranty is good, it's 4/50000 and 100K on the engine/turbo/transmission.

It sounds me like you should get what you can from the "auto wholesaler" guy. Sounds too me like he could get you the hook-ups.
the only other suggestion is to get an Integra or bigger coupe like an Accord if your worried about insurance with a S2000.
Personally I would get a GTi, but I think you probably perfer the RSX.
Just be glad you are not in a hurry to buy

Yeah thanks for the advice guys...I think I'm gonna take a look around in the coming couple of weeks at what's selling around here...even though I kinda want to keep my civic, tell my mom to just give me 5 grand and I put turbo on it, but you know what? It's not really a man's world oh well hahaha

The WRX sounds really cool...I love an AWD turbo enthusiasts' car, but I don't really like the way it looks....
my bad if I consider looks important too. I went to VW today and test drove a golf GTI, not bad....but....not really my taste....I'm still not really sure, and my Mom says its no rush, but whenever I'm ready....so maybe I'll wait a couple months and see if this mazda protege 5 is pretty nice...
EDIT: I'm gonna also go to Nissan and see if they'll let me drive the new Z for the hell of it.

Nookiemonster - I think you mean the MazdaSpeed Protege. You could look at the Protege 5 right now if you wanted, they've been out for a while. If I was looking for a four-door car, I'd probably get the Protege 5. If you mean the MazdaSpeed P. - you better go pay for it now; but it might be too late. Only 1700 for the US total.

The S2000 cost me about $22 more a month than my 6th gen Civic Si did. And I'm a single guy who is 23 years old.
