stock speaker holes
hey y'all - i gots a question. did some searching and didnt really find a clear clear answer.
for a 2002 sedan. What spec speakers will fit in the stock holes with no drilling or cutting or modifications at all..... drop-in as mohawk would say.
I'm getting this from my searches:
Front Sedan speakers: 6.5" diameter
Back Sedan Speakers: 6.5" Diameter
no tweeter
no 6x9
Can somebody fill in the missing info below?
FRONT SPEAKERS (Crutchfield tells me nothing fits):
size: 6.5"
top mount depth: (I am assuming front speakers are top mount only)
BACK SPEAKERS (Crutchfield says 3 fit - Kenwood, Polk, and Kicker - and all three need a special adaptor bracket):
size: 6.5"
top mount depth:
bottom mount depth:
( should i be looking at top mount or bottom mount )
Remember - i need them to be drop-in - no mods.

Front will require modification see this thread for help. It is pretty easy. See the pics if you need help. Most 6.5" will fit in the front with the 1/2" or 1" adapter.

In the rear any 6.5 or Oversozed 6.5 will fit..
In the front 5.25's and 6.5's fit.. Some voersized euro speaker requir some minor modification to fit.

so basically crutchfield is wrong.
as long as i get 6.5" speakers anything will fit "drop-in" - no mods - no drilling - no spacers - no adaptors - no brackets.
is this correct?
looks like Saris had to add spacers or something

You don't have to put spacers, but they sound like ! I've had them with and without spacers and it sounds way better with them. Installation with the spacers was far easier and much cleaner. Also, I originally had to angle my speakers so that they would not hit the window when I rolled it down, and now I have no problems. Notice on my pictures how much bigger the spacer opening is then the stock opening and you can tell going spacerless is ghetto. Do yourself a favor, take off the door panel and the stock speaker and try to fit a 6.5" in there and let me know what happens. If you are in DFW (Dallas/Fort Worth) I would be willing to help you.
I just saw you were from Long Island!
Also, Crutchfield was wrong about the front speakers, but right about the rear ones. However, I would suggest staying away from speakers with excessive tweeter protrusion.

i have the best idea for u....... for me...... i bought a pair of xplod speakers...... and the holes didn't match up...... and i didn't want to drill any holes....so i bought a bag of the thinnest zip ties...... u know what those things r....... and just tied em up to the existing holes.... there you go..... instant difference in sound.
I just finished installing my JL Audio XR component set and they come with the 6.5" mids. They wouldn't just fit in the door, as most aftermarket speakers wouldn't. You need a spacer, I used a 1 inch. You won't have any clearance between the speaker and the window if you don't put a spacer in between.
