I raced a co-worker in his 2000 LX which he says has a base hp of 107 and he had a CAI and muffler and I won by half a car length with just a stock engine.

well, i dont know about you guys, but im bettin on the 7thgen....
i raced a stock EX, with exhaust and maybe intake.... now i have a series of mods, so it really wasnt any fair race by any means, but lets just say he could not keep up AT ALL!! fully on it, not even in quarter mile length, i led him by atleast 5-7 car lengths...

The funny thing is... he's telling the truth... (I dunno about 5-7 car lengths though but he's easily manhandled EXs) you and your damn HP headers and cam gears.

Oh, and I'm not the one of the many EXs he raced against with his LX.

7th Gen Civics are faster than 6th Gen Civics stock. I dunno exactly how but if someone can explain the technicalities, I wanna hear.

yes, (usually) if the engine has more capacity = more torque

but aren't 7th gens heavier than 6th gens?

what about gear ratios? manual or automatic etc? aerodynamics, drag coefficient (Cd) etc..........

trim for trim, transmission for transmission, 7th gen civics are overall faster than previous gen.

but not by much... and the difference can easily be removed with the driver factor.

the 7th gen civics (excluding Si) doesn't have 100 more cc... its 1668 or so cc, compared to previous gen's 1598 or whatever cc. (this is a guess, I dont remember the exact numbers, but I do remember that the increase in displacement is less than 70 cc.)

in either case though, the 7th gens do have plenty more power through the powerband to work with than the previous gen's. its mid range is also more able.

in terms of weight, trim for trim, I think the difference is only around 40 lbs. if anything, isn't over 100 lbs.

I am however unsure of the gear ratio factors, cuz I dont remember what they were. heh.

so yeah, we're quicker by a bit, but it sure isn't anything I'll brag about.

My girlfriend has a 99' that she thought could take me, but I schooled her on the way to beaumont one day by taking her by over 2 car lengths. 7th gen would definately win, unless the 6th gen had some serious mods.

Well, even a base 7thgen LX/DX dyno's a lot more torque(6ft-lbs+) than a 6thgen EX, so, of course we can beat them!
