SIRIUS Satellite Radio

A couple of questions regarding this:

1) How hard is it to install?

2) Is the reception clear?

3) Are the available channels worth paying $10 a month for because I am a cheap ?

the only htink i dont like about it is the antenna for it... its kinda funny lookin and lets people know you got something in there... as for the channels, depends on what you listen to... if you listen to whatever's on the radio and most popular music, its great because if youre driving a long way you dont have to look for stations... me on the other hand, i despise most music on the radio/tv and i havent put a radio station on for month, so i have an ungodly amount of cd's... i've flipped through it and i didn't particularly like it

XM has alot more commercials, sirius is supposed to have none, sirius i believe is 15 a month, or 12, vs 9 or 10 for XM. sirius has like 10 news channels more than XM, out of 100 or more channels sirius has 3 sattelites, XM has 2 plus a ton of repeater towrs. expect sirius to be clearer sound.

between the two, id go sirius. but since they broke it by brand, you have to choose a sirius deck then, which means clarion (i forget what other brands have sirius) ive also forgotten what brands do XM other than pioneer, but i fyou want sattelite radio with a pioneer deck with digital sound, you HAVE to get XM. and if you want a clarion deck with sattelite radio playing digital sound, you have to get sirius.

there's NO way sirius will have cleaner sound. XM has the 2 strongest commercial sattelites ever put into orbit. right now the are fixed in 2 locations above the US PLUS they have a massive repeater network that covers the entire US including tall buildings in cities and tunnels so you will never loose the signal. Sirius has 3 weaker sattelites that follow a figure 8 pattern over the US and they have no repeater network. That means interruptions in tunnels and cities with tall buildings. I work in car audio and a few people I work with have XM, they say that the few channels that do have commercials have MAYBE 1 commercial every 45 minutes. I don't think paying an extra $5 a month is worth not having those few commercials. XM is the way to go.

JohnDoe is correct - Sirius will not have "better sound" than XM. That marketing claim has been out there since Sirius decided to try and offer some competition to XM. Of course nothing has ever come of it. XM is awesome, beautiful clear sound and all the programming you could ever want. Sure there are commercials on some of the channels, but nothing even close to what you would hear on a normal radio station. LudlamTheory - if you couldn't find something to listen to on all of the XM channels then I don't know what to tell you man except stick to CDs I guess. I normally hate listening to the radio because there is usually nothing decent but XM is a gas to listen to. Highly recommended.
