Can stock 7th gens beat previous gens of the same trim?

So like could an 02 ex beat a 99 ex? Or a 96 ex? etc.

Stock, of course.

Just wondering, cuz I heard the 02's engine is better than previous generations'.

Why are ppl so interested in can my car beat this or will is this faster than that. Man, leave racing and fastness to the tracks where they belong!

I don't mean any disrespect but frankly, I'm getting tired of the fast questions and the street racers in general! Damn F&F to hell!!!!lol

He didn't mention anything about street racing, he asked about speed. If you're sick of reading about people's questions about how fast the car is, then don't read the threads. No one's making you read them. There's no need to flame someone talking about street racing, when the words "street" and "racing" aren't even mentioned in the guy's post.

And yes, the 7th gens are faster, but not by much.

yea, they are......that point got across.........

What sucks is......everyone in my town thinks that they are slower than the previous gens......They don't really know what they're talking about, but even this dumb biatch that I only "saw" for 1 night was like "I heard that your car is really slow. And the new civic's suck now"........That was infront of like 20 people at this party....I was so pissed.....I told everyone it was wrong....nobody believed me.......

well for non-vtec models the older gens are quicker...I raced my g/f's mom in her 96 LX sedan in my 2k1 DX Sedan..she beet me..we switched cars..I beat her.. we went to the track.. 17.089 in my car 16.864 in hers...maybe she has a factory freak..or maybe all my sound deadenign slowed me down that much

our cars have more torque which is what makes the difference and gives our cars the advantage.. but give us a lil bit longer, our civics will be mod-friendly.. eventually

its not torque or anything like that, trust me i know i have a 96 ex and a 2k1 ex the the 7th gen has a better timming(vtec) then the older gens, same BHP and Torque, its not a drastic difference but there is a difference and to make it simple look at the gauges of a older gen and then look at the 7thgen 7thgen---max out reads 140 last digit 150
older gens max out reads 130 and my roommate has an 6 gen si and the the 7th gen keeps up better than the older gen so they are faster just because they are bigger doesnt make them slower!!!

Call me a newbie but I don't think that a speedometer's highest number is necessarily indicative of that cars maximum speed. Besides, in a race torque and hp matter more than max speed, I assume.

Thanks for the responses, everyone.
