Mohawkboom or other Pros opinion
I have a question for the ya. Mohawk it's obvious you are the stereo god. I have a new blazer and I am torn on the highs. So much to choose from out there. This is what I've narrowed down to:
Alpine SPS4629P 4x6 (dash)
Alpine SPR176A 6.5 component (doors)
Alpine SPR694A 6x9 (rear)
Lightning Audio B.400.4 to push them
what do you think?
will they all fit (depth)? anything you would change? Likes? dislikes? better choices? other brands?
I like clean and crisp sound and of course LOUD. I don't have alot of $ but I will wait for $ if you have better choices and the $ increase is worth the sound quality increase.
I have 3 JL Audio 12wo with mxt pro3002 amp for the subs
I know this is a forum for honda but I love the info here and you seem to be a pro. I thought I'd give it a shot. Thanks

I'm not a pro or a god... I don;t know as much as the actual pro's.. but I'm workin on being one ..
If you want great sound and loud..that sounds allright.. Also you can wire the door speakers and dash speakers in Paralell to get a 2ohm load. Just be sure yo use the highpass function on your amp and set it to about 80-90Hz.
Sound quality wise..it's not gonna be competition class..but it's gonna sound pretty dang good. You may also want to check out Cerwin Vega HED Speakers.. good value..
Cheers

thanks man. You seem pro to me. I can get all that at etronics.com for $500, Not bad I thought.
I've installed a few stereo systems and thought I knew alot. Turns out I knew nothing. With ya'll I learn a little everyday. Thinking about building my first REAL sub enclosure. Thanks to all ya'll.

You forgot SmilePhotoVideo.com. They are really cheap and have great service. I bought my head unit from them. They don't have all of the major brands, but they have a pretty decent selection.
hey mohawk one more for ya. When you put together a sub box you do screw and glue then seal right. This guy told me today he thought they were just glued. I'm a firm believer in screwing. Thanks for the other recommendations on site to buy. Changed to ikesound.com. Oh my blazer is one of those you can't remove the factory stereo from the vehicle it must be relocated. That really threw me a curve. thanks for the help
any good sites for box building like maybe boxbuilding.com (you get the point)

I've always screwed and glued.... err
Use just screws until the box design is finalized and test fit and all. When the box is ready to be finished, reassemble the box with glue. I've never used any sealant. The boxes that I've built have all seemed pretty tight to me.
Disclaimer: I'm no box building expert. I've only built about 5 boxes, all simple sealed design. The above is just from my limited experience. YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary). etc etc etc bla bla bla

check the rear speaker size in your blazer before you order. I did one the other day with 4x6 dash, and 6.5 front and rears. As for relocating your radio, that's easy, just get a GM reverse harness and extend the wires.
if you're concered with a tight-sealed box. After it is complete and the subs are installed (assumng they share the same air chamber, press one of the cones in with your hand and see if the other cone moves out that equal distance. If you have seperate enclosures (I recommend this) push the cone in and release, it should slowly come back out. If it comes back to its resting position quickly, you have a BAD seal. If it takes a sec or 2, you have a good, tight seal. Goodluck!!
