for any drag racers out there, help me trouble shoot.
ok, so i have just ripped the nitrous out of my car... rather go all engine. and ever sience then, my times have been consistently slower. i have been consistently about 4 mph slower in my trap speed and was uselly getting around a 16.2. now, i can barely break 17!!!
im gonna run a compression test soon to see if thats the problem. but honestly im shooting in the dark.
If there were some actuall noticable symptoms then i could diagnose it but she runs compleatly normally. even when im going down the track it dosnt feel like anything is wrong, its just that im not going as fast as i used to go.
any help would be great so give my your $.02

I hate it when ppl can't understand wha u write, and it's common sense to NOT write anyhting if u can't contribute or don't even understand (Sorry but I HAD to say that).
But to try to help u wit ur problem I'd def change fuel rail, spark plugs, plus anything that was a factor wit n2O.

like the timing gear...why would you have one when the ecu compensates for advancement/retardation of timing (as far as ive been told)
also timing gears on a sohc motor ???
nitrous requires you to change the timing????
edit: read this post cam gears

do some research, ignition timing (ECU) and cam timing (cam gear) are two veri different things.
As far as the reason of going slower after you took the nitrous kit off. HOw does your trap speeds compare from before to now. 60ft's? Also you have to figure in the summer heat is not good for power anyway.
If you messed the motor up try checking the air filter, the breather tube would be dumping oil in the intake because of blow by on fried piston rings. Or if you chipped a valve your car would have a hard time keeping idle or even shutting off most of the time.
For a compression test, disconnect your plugs and wires etc. Have a friend sit in the car while you use the tester. Open the throttle boddy to WOT. And turn the car over about 5 or so times till you don't reach a higher compression number. Your numbers should be 15-20% with in each of each other. They most likely won't be the same number across.

Well, everyone's forgetting something. What happens this time of year? Heat and humidity... the racers enemies. I don't run high 15s in the summer as I do in winter. That might be why...
