Chassis Dynometers-G-tech and Blitz Power - INFO?
I've been trying to find some info about both of these guys and chassis dyno's in general without too much success. There has been limited info posted here but nothing that really answers my questions.
So, here we go...
These devices seem like they could be quite useful to anyone looking to see what kind of effects their mods have on their car. From what I've been reading they will give the same info that a session on a real dyno will give. What I'm wondering is if thats really true. How accurate are these things? Is this something that could be relied upon to give me proper info if I was attempting to tune a car with different cams, forced induction, etc via a device like apexi's v-afc or s-afc?
From the info that I've gotten so far, people seem to like the G-tech Pro more than the Blitz Power Meter. From looking at the 2 of them the blitz seems to offer the same info + extras and also show it in a nice graphical format..so I figure I must be missing something except for the fact that the blitz is about twice as expensive. Here are links to both of them that I found that give some info on what they can do:
Blitz Power Meter: http://www.suprastore.com/blitpowmetid.html
and here: http://www.blitz-na.com/Blitz_Products.htm
G-tech Pro: http://www.gtechpro.com/
If either of these devices ARE accurate then why wouldn't everyone have one? It certainly must be cheaper then going to a dyno shop every time you want to tune or see how your mods effected your hp.
Lastly, if I were to install one of these I need to know how much my car weighs. To be as accurate as possible I would like to get it weighed with me in it. Where would I go to do something like this? It's not like you can just go out and buy a car scale. heh

well the G-Tech devices calculates acceleration which when you apply physics equations, you can determine lots of stats. when it comes to calculating HP, it gives you a figure and you calculate your car weight into that number to calculate final HP. Hence, it is not the most accurate way to determine HP. It's not bad considering it's not too expensive.
BTW: i think the Blitz Power Meter is just a boost controller but i could be wrong
