DIY: Painting Washer Nozzles
DIY Painting Washer Nozzles
Excuse me if there is already a DIY on how to do this, im just lazy and didnt search.
Time required: 1 hr + (mostly drying time)
Tools needed: Scrap newspape (cause im messy)r, H.onda touch up paint MATCHING your body color (dont be a ricer and paint them yellow if you have a black car).
1. Open the hood, where you should see the hoses feeding the washer fluid to the nozzles. Removing these plastic hoses is probably the most annoying part of the whole thing. You have to pull them from the while bottom part which requires force, but make sure not to mess up the hoses.
2. Now that the hoses are off, you will see two black clips right above where you pulled the hose from. One faces you, the other away from you. Squeeze these and push up, and the nozzle will pop out.
3. What comes off is the nozzle and the small plastic seperator under it. Hold onto this seperator but do not paint it.

Above is a pic of the two seperators, and the paint used.
4. Apply many coats to the top of nozzle (the part that sticks out of the hood).
5. In order to dry them correctly, you will need to find a spot where the painted part does not touch anything. I just plugged them back into the hoses and let them hang.

After a while (i took time to smoke a clove), I took time to reinstall everything the correct way (dont forget the seperators). The result:

Hey is that Honda touch up paint in a spray?? My stupid dealer gave me the brush type. I have a silver coupe and that brush stuff doesnt work worth a damn. Doesn't match and is very runny and blobby. If that is Honda spray...how much?? Your nozzles look tight man.

I did this to my car a couple of months ago. Just take your time, and it will look so much better. Also the nozzles where the water comes up is adjustable, so if you moved it, spray and see where it sprays cuz I screwed mine up and needed to use it a couple days after. Easy mod to make the car look so much better. Makes you wonder why Honda doesnt put the Accord nozzles on there, cuz from what I have heard is that they are the same.
it look like easy, so did you clean the nozzle first before paint them?...one time I tried to paint them, look like crappy, so i wiped it out. cuz our nozzle has some type of glaze on it, so the paint not easily stay in there. How you do your nozzle, or you just paint them couple time until the paint is match up???
thanks

I primed them with Dupli-Color touch up paint primer. Than I think 3 maybe 4, even, nice thin coats. Let them dry before you repaint them. Patience is a viture, and you need some patience with this project to make it look good. The way I did mine was, my dad has a vise bolted to the work bench, put some newspaper around the vise and clamped down, but just enough to hold them there, and not warp the hole attachment piece. That way you dont have to touch them and get your finger prints on them.

you sir...are a moron. dont blame me for your stupid mistakes, hey its your car, i have no say on how much you want to be the president of the yellow plastic club. dont even tell me the colors go good together, unless you WANT your car to look like a hornet (to match the sound your "high performance" exhaust makes)
Well...UPDATE: for those who don't want to paint their own washer nozzles -- I got my white Accord nozzles ($24) put on my white Civic today (even though the car doesn't run right now). They pop right into place BUT the fluid tubes are not long enough. The male end on the washer nozzle faces the front of the car (Accord nozzles) vs. the driver side (Civic nozzles). A quick trip to Checker and some replacement tubing ($3) cut about 2 1/2" longer for each piece (you will need two, one short and one long) fixed the problem right up. The hardest part was feeding the new tubing through the white holders under the hood. A good idea for you color scheme guys is to get the tubing in the color of your color scheme. I have seen this in purple on an older Civic and it looks good. I will have some pictures for you guys when my car is up and running again.
