2010 DX-G hydraulic rack conversion
2010 DX-G hydraulic rack conversion
hey guys i have a 2010 civic dx-g and i’ve been having issues with the eps
i’m on my second rack and it’s giving me issues again, and eps racks are pricey and hard to find while hydraulic racks are a dime a dozen. apparently the only civics that had eps are si’s and canadian dxg's??
anyway i’m wondering what it would take to put a fully hydraulic steering rack on my car, would it throw codes? if so could i clear them for good? all i can find are videos converting hydraulic-eps and. not the other way around.
ill add that i don’t care about the couple horsepower or the “performance loss” that i may encounter. i just wanna drive my car to work and be able to turn both ways with equal effort lol
also i hope i posted this in the right forum, if not feel free to move it

Re: 2010 DX-G hydraulic rack conversion
Si, SiR, and DX-G had EPS.
Are you sure it's the rack that's giving you issues? At least on the 2nd generation TSX (the car I have which also has EPS), the module is the more common point of failure since it's located in the passenger side wheel arch and moisture tends to accumulate near it, causing it to fail.
As for converting to conventional power steering, it would definitely throw codes, but I'm not sure how you'd go about removing them - potentially converting to a different ECU? In my opinion, I'd change cars before going that route.
