Hi all
I dont know a lot about cars but ill explain the best i can
so my Honda civic 2006 (56plate) ctdi 2.2 diesel
has been having this issue with trips that are more than 10mins
its only once a month or even two that i do this, so in all this issue has only happend about 6 times in about 3 months
the issue is, after/towards the end of a longer normal journey i could be slowing down at a traffic light or about to park
and it will lose revs,i cant accelerate at all.i cant rev it past 1200-1500 and even if i put my foot all way down to drive it would maybe go at 2mph and probalbly stall
another example i was on the motorway and soon to come off at my junction and it happend and i barely had time to role off the motorway and around the sliproad to another stop
i dont know if its related but when traffic is in front of me and i lay off the accel for a sec,once i re press there often seems like a stutter.
Oh each and everytime if i turn the engine off for around 5minutes it starts as is back to normal
its been to the garage and they couldnt reproduce it as it doesnt do it within the time they have it
they also sugested i use there machine that pumps a fume or chemical through all the pipes and apparently moists all the crap up and they said take it for a 50mile drive and that should make it fire all the sofened crap through the pipes and out which i did
i also did its full service
i get no error light and the garage just said older cars dont narrow down the problem ,exhaust
i had been looking into the EGR valve that could be blocked as i have seen someone else with pretty much same issue but im wareing of ordering the wrong parts and not even sure if its just another deadend
the costs are starting to add up and im no where near finding the problem
Can anyone advise?
