Problem: Dorman MANUAL driver's window regulator for 2000 Civic DX sedan

Does anyone have experience with the Dorman Front Left Manual Window Regulator (740-198) in a 2000 4dr Civic sedan? Or their manual regulator in any Civic. See links to the product below.

The online reviews and the Dorman website make them sound like a quality product but the overwhelming feedback is that they are so tight that it nearly takes 2 hands to raise or lower the window once its installed. Again, this is a manual, hand crank window like the good ol' days. But excessive force on a plastic handle on a metal axle is setting up for a stripped setup. From what it sounds like, either the cable isn't being lubricated where it rubs on the plastic tracks, etc. OR it's wound so tight around the spool that its nearly non-functional. Possibly they used a tension spring too strong for the setup. BUT then again, being able to list options as to why its so tight doesn't get me a regulator that works smoothly. Without having to modify it somehow, losing $50 if I fails to solve the design problem.

The cable on the regulator I had to remove was so kinked in the crank housing that it couldn't wrap around the spool freely enough to allow for enough cable for full range of motion of the window. And the teeth on both the spool and tension gear showed wear with some broken entirely.

Or does anyone have recommendations for another brand? The Dorman runs between $40-60 depending on how greedy the website. OEM directly from Honda goes for well over $120.
I'm selling the car and want everything in working order and operating smooth. Any advice or feedback would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance,
Brett

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

How about the glass dragging in the rubber seal, due to dirt buildup and/or dried rubber?

Before going nuts, you could get a spray can of silicone lubricant and hose down the rubber all the way around the glass run channels, even down the tracks inside the door........maybe this will make the regulator work easier for you.
