noise in tensioner? after o-ring change
I changed my car's (D17a1) timing belt 2 years ago and the car has been running great since then. But I didn't know I had to change the o-ring behind the oil pump. Long story short: I changed the o-ring the day before yesterday. Also changed the gasket of the carter.
Since the belt was only 2 years old and less than 25,000 Miles I decided to keep it and also kept the tensioner. I inspected and tested everything OK before putting them back and the car started just fine. I've driven more than 100 miles since then.
But now I heard this really really slightly whining noise when pressing the accelerator very slightly. Almost when I make the car reach between 900 - 1200 rpm.
I went under the hood and I heard the sound coming from the tensioner area.
(water pump is next to the tensioner also)
Also reviewed the Timing belt DIY and found it says in step:

"20b: Install the tensioner, spring on the left, pin on the right, bolt on the top. Tighten the bolt to 7.2 lbf, then loosen 180 degrees."
I just tightened to the specified torque but did not loose it 180 degrees.
Could it be that the problem?
What happens if I don't loose?
I don't remember me loosen it last time I did it 2 years ago.
Also I heard this sound only when the car is at normal operating temperature (hot)
If I let it cool down enough time or let it parked overnight and then I start it then no noise at all.
Also my A/C, Alternator and PS pump bearings where changed 1 year ago and all of them are in great shape. Just to rule them out.
Any ideas / input is welcomed.

Did you read all of the instructions? What's the next few steps after you loosen that bolt?

To be sincere I just tightened and did left it that way.
And yes I do read the instructions but missed that part.
I would like your help (if possible (not being sarcastic or anything)) and advice on what to do next.

I am here on this one to learn something. I hate this generation mess. But I guess my 2007 is one.
Are we talking the tensioner on the drive belt or the timing belt?

the tensioner bolt should be LOOSE when you install the belt with the grenade pin installed,
then.....
- install the timing belt
- install tensioner spring
- rotate engine 4-6 times checking timing marks each time
- tighten tensioner bolt to spec
- remove grenade pin
then.....
- install the timing belt
- install tensioner spring

I would take it apart to the point in the steps where you went awry, then follow the rest of the instructions to continue doing the job correctly.
