DC Sports TCS catback install ?s
ok, i ordered the dc sports tcs exhaust, and before i install it, i have some questions, to anyone else that has it, do you have any tips for the install? do you like it, how does it sound?(like the average import exhaust?, loud?), any noticeable performance gains? thanks.
ive heard its quite but it puts out some HP
and Tourqe but its easy, theres three bolts that
connect to the CAT that you take off and the rest
is held on by hangers... its very easy if you put your car
on a lift so you get a better view

the TCS is one of the quitest exhausts out there and you should get some gains in hp, you will notice the most w/ intake, exhaust, + header I've heard it is easy to instal but can be difficult if done self just because of it's odd shape. Future recommendation - know something about a product before you order it

<< ive heard its quite but it puts out some HP
and Tourqe >> Yes, it is quite but mine does get pretty loud around 2500rpm's and tappers back off. As far as noticable gains... nope sorry. It's extremly easy to install. I had to have help just for the reason that it was too heavy for me to hold up and bolt it on at the same time. One thing though, if you have someone else install it for you. Ask them to modify or bend the hangers so the tip hangs a little farther away from the bumper because if you don't your going to end up with the underside of your bumper melted like mine.

You have to tweak the exhaust hangers otherwise you will leave a really nice burn patch in the bumper cut-out. The exhaust tip sits too close to the right side of that arch.
My system also rattled underneath my shifter somewhere.

It is really easy in instalation. U might have a problem with bolts on the exhaust but there is atrick that I learned that makes them come of easier. Simply u need a small torch and heat up the bolt - as it heats up it expands and comes of easier- and then unscrew it. Have fun dude and in my opinion DC is quiet when u need it to be quiet when I step on my car it gets loud, especially towards the end -above 6000rpms-. Peace out

Exactly!!! Except mine has never rattled anywhere.
As far as removing the bolts juss spray some wd40 or bolt breaker on the bolts and let it sit for a few minutes...they'll lossen right up.
Edit: Another option that someone told me to keep from having a melted bumper. Is to purchase a double-walled tip to put on it. Which doesn't get hot like the dc tip.

Mine rattles EVERYtime I hit 3,500 rpms,...exactly,......It just started,.......not that big of a deal.....
I dont have a lift,.....and just have been too lazy to through it up on jack stands,.....
but anyway......install easy......sounds great......you will not notice a gain.

ok for all the junior members out there saying it gives good amount of hp and torque shut the f@ck up. unless u have seen the dyno charts for it u would know it will only give u 1 to 4 hp gain. any exhaust that is out right now will not give more then that. and toretto go watch more of the FandF.
you know what spiderman why dont you suck it
and i bet you i will smoke your your car and get that stupid banner off there it

ok springs or coilovers and a bodykit wont do anything for speed. and how do u have headers. i only have a header even though it is the stock one. your header will only give from 1 to 3 hp gain. i ahve an sri and u have a cai. at most a 1 hp difference. so a total of 3 to 4 hp more. oh wait i also have a system so there goes another 100lbs to u. darn u beat me. oh well. im 18. i work as a CADtech makeing 20 bucks an hour. thats darn good for how young i am. so go shove it up your
ok get your story straight aftermarket headers give you more than that
like a 5 to 7 hp gain and cold air will give you a 4 hp gain
have you dynoed your car lately cuz you dont know
crap...
oh ya, im only 20 and im a Auto Tech. for Hall Honda and i make 40,000

ok a dc sport intake header and exhuast was only dynoed at 5 hp at the wheels. we dont quote flywheel power here bc it doesnt mean a thing. and since u are a auto tech for honda u should know that tuneing up a D17 is hard as heck with just boltons. and i havent graduated high school yet so i am doing good. i walk the stage on the 22nd of this month.
hey im happy that you are graduating and you make
good money for being 18 yrs old but when
i dynoed my car fom 127 hp it went around 140 hp and i smoke
accords and other civics, a GSR only gets me by a car length
its all about the racer... ill show you my pic when
i become a member and trust me ive watched the f and f too

Have you Dynoed your car????
And all those mods don't do **** for our cars as far as HP goes..........
Like Spider883 said..... DC Sports dynoed their 2001 EX with Headers, Intake, and TCS Exhaust, and it only produced something like 4 HP to the wheels.......
who cares how much money you make

i dint order it blindly, i knew that i wanted to go mostly DC Sports on the carand i did some research before i bought it, i just wanted to get a real world idea on what to expect. thanks for all your help. on a side note im going to go with an injen intake instead of a DC Sports, so, what for intake does everyone have and what do they think, also im not sure about SRI or CAI, if you dont get very much more with a cold air, ill probably save the money and get an SRI. and yes i have been reading all the other threads that have to do with intakes.
I've got the TCS2 on my car. First of all it sound GREAT. Not loud, just a nice throaty growl. Don't know about HP gains but know that on 7th Gens they are small with bolt ons. It feels like it has a tad more pick up at the top of third and through fourth though. I'm REALLY happy with it.

Oh yea, cake walk install. Took me and a friend 45 minutes and we seriously took our time with it. I highly recommend bringing a friend. It's long so get's awkard to handle when you've got it above your head and stuff.

well its been on since saturday morn, and I LOVE IT! love the sound, best of all it sounds the bes from 2500-3000 rpms, which is conveiniently around when i shift, koolage. i do experience a smell everynow and then, but a general concensus(among friends and dad) says that its just breaking it, like the inside coating from prodction, no biggie though
give or take, they all install the same way. two jack stands is fine, it'll just be a little cramped up around the cat. Only prob is the heat put out by the cat along with condensation will cause those bolts to rust. someone else mentioned, its a good idea to spray some wd-40 on the three bolts at the cat. its really hard to get torque on the uppermost one due to position. i didn't spray that one down and ended up ripping the head off the screw. i felt like the hulk!
Didn't have a problem with hangers either. mine hangs perfectly centered nd low enough not to melt anything. i might of anticipated it subconsiously though, and manipulated the hangers without thinking about it..
