99 civic sluggish on pickup

99 civic sluggish on pickup
I have a 99 civic Si with automatic transmission and i don't know why it's always slow to pick up speed. Is there a kick down cable that needs to be adjusted or is there something wrong with the torque converter. For instance, if I'm driving @ 100kph and slow down to lets say 30kph and hit the gas again, that's when it takes a while to pick up speed again. Any suggestions. Thanks.

Are you flooring the gas pedal when you do this? If you stab the gas pedal to the floor at 30KPH, it should downshift to second gear (it may even downshift to first.)
Pull the floormats out from under the gas pedal and try it again LOL.
Does it lack power otherwise? Will it pull hard all the way up to redline before it shifts?

When you have the gas pedal floored: Will it pull hard all the way up to redline before it shifts?
Or does it shift long before redline when you have it floored?

When the gas pedal is floored, is it pulling the throttle blade all the way open? Does the cable need adjustment?

If you had the gas pedal flat on the floor and it doesn't go all the way to redline before shifting, I'll first guess the throttle isn't reaching the "wide open" position for some reason.
Second guess might be a TPS related issue....I'd certainly get the scanner out and observe live operating data before pulling the trigger on any parts though.
