91 honda civic engine cuts out when slowing down and somtimes when driving or accelor
I recently had a problem where my engine would cut out while driving and sometimes would come back on ,but often it would stop and I would have to pull over and wait a while before it would start again This started happening more frenquently. Finally one day asI was cutting out on the freeway the engine light came on and this car has a diagnostic built-in. The diagnostic said the Oxygen sensor was at fault. I had to have it toed to my house. When my friend and I checked it out we sprayed starter fluid on the engine. It would start for a few seconds and then stall. When we checked the fuel pump we heard no sound. So we replaced the fuel pump. The car started after a minute or two and ran good for a day or two after that it started to stall when I slowed down coming to a stop.I put my old platinum sparkplugs back in (as we hade changed them) It started to run at idle ,but after that it started to stall both when I accelorated and when I stopped. Twice I have had to replace the distributor as one time some of the internal componets melted. The second time the inside parts of the distributor where covered with white corrosion (like you get on your battery terminals. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

When you changed the spark plugs did you use NGK, DENSO, or another brand? You changed the fuel pump but did you ever replace the fuel filter and if so did you replace the washers to the banjo bolt of the fuel filter. Sounds to me at the moment you are getting some type of fuel issue that comes and goes. On the fuel rail there is a fuel pressure regulator. The plunger inside may be going bad or sticking. Also anther easier fix would be to pull out your PCV located on the intake. Pull it out and shake it. If it does not make a baby rattle sound then it is plugged up. Spray carb cleaner through both inlets and see what happens. You can test all these symptoms by disconnecting vacuum lines to these components before spending your cash on new parts. One last thing before I forget, You may have a intake gasket leak and the easy way to diagnose is by using carb cleaner. Just spray around the injectors and where the intake meets the head. WARNING: do this when you first start the car when it is at low engine temp or you may cause a engine fire!! Best of luck and hope this helps.
