Hello all,

I have a 92 Civic manual transmission. I recently (three months ago) had an engine swapped in. A D15. My girlfriend blew the previous (stock) engine. I know jack about cars and I usually have a mechanic to bring it to, but he's on vacation and here I am.

Last night I noticed the car was overheating, there was a noticeable drop in power to acceleration and when I pulled into my driveway I noticed the white smoke. I lifted the hood and found coolant splashed everywhere below and around the reservoir. I can't find any obvious cracks in the reservoir. I have not removed it to inspect it further.

I figured with a bit of coolant I would be able to get to work this morning. I started the car and realized that it wasn't idling like normal, now it is idling at 2 and surging between 1 and 2. I drove it about a mile and it overheated, splashing the coolant everywhere again and smoking. The bottom hose is cold and the top hose (both from/to radiator) is hot. I let it cool and drove it back home.

Can someone help please?

your head gasket is blown.......have it replaced
