300 HP 2k1 Civic?
300 HP 2k1 Civic?
Is it possible? Per (I think) Super Street a B16xx can be bolted directly into a D17 equipped civic, but from every where else I looked the engine will bolt in but the sucker just won't fit in the tiny engine bay. Unless you get a bulgy hood, you can forget super charging (maybe a custom Vortex installation?).
I am looking to either drop $6000 on my 2001 Civic EX to get it up to 300hp w/o NOS or sell the Civic and buy something simular that can get 300HP. I like the size styling, etc but I tire of waiting for the car to get to 70mph on the freeway.

illegal to put a B engine in anyway - it's against the law, big time, to have an engine in a car that is older than the chassis is. so, since production of B's was stopped with the 2000 integra, that would make ALL of them older than the 2k1. just strap some nitrous on and you'll be good up to about 180. it's gonna be hard to hit 300 though, that's ridiculous. uh.....correction the b18c is still in the 2001 integra, the RSX with the k20 came out in 2002, not 2001.
correction #2..the b20 engine is still used in the Honda CRV, a B series engine.
correction #3..you can always make room for a B..just like dessert and Twin Turbo.
Based on my comparisons I see no reason why the b swap wouldn't be better and easier than a K20 one, on the K20 the headers are on the wrong side, while the B engines have the same basic setup as the D blocks in out cars, with soem new mounts and proper restructuring of the engine bay a b18c swap would knock us up to 185 ponies and about 2700 lb, not bad especially with an easy turbo addition by HKS or Greddy, for the GSR motor, the only forseen problem in my opinion is the electrical components, but if you get the entire front end from a GSR then its really not a problem.
But this only applies to 2k1 civics, the rest of ya kids are stuck with either a b20 of k20 swap.

CRV has the K24, making it a venerable torque monster. the RSX and the SI have the K20. the K engine was developed for the 2002 model year, for both the CRV and the RSX. so yes, IF you could find a 2001 b18c, which are extremely rare, and IF you could make it fit, then you'd be cool. however, finding the rare b18c and making it fit would probably be even more expensive than dropping a K engine in.

Remember, 300HP doesn't mean a thing if you dont have the torque & times to back it up. Realize 300hp mustangs only run 14's and civics run 16's. Thus, an extra 200hp didn't do a thing!!!!!!! Sell your civic and buy a race car.......nissan
The real prob with b engine vs. our stock d's is the reverse rotation, you need the tranny and diff for the b as well, Personally any swap is possible. They put a taurus SHO motor in a bloody festiva in the early 90's, anything is possible.
The Mustang weighs about 1000lbs than a Civic If I can't feel myself being forced back into my seat, then the car is too slow. I would never buy a nissan as their sheet metal is some sort of tin foil derrivative. My wife's (soon to be ex) nissan sentra had a softball hit it right on the bend of the trunk and it put a dent in it. Most real metals don't bend on creases from a mere softball.
Anywho, I might just sell the 2001 Civic and either get a 1999 Civic, a Supra, or spend the few grand on a 2004 Crossfire
Other notes - the stock gear shift really sucks I need to take it back to the honda dealer to get the dern thing loosened up before I grind all the gears out of the thing - I pull the shifter all the way back until I hit solid and the dern thing isn't in gear! Nothing beats a good hand massage...

WTF are you talking about...go look in an integra GSR and then at our engine..they have an identical setup m'kay.
Sorry my mistake they do now use a K engine in the CRV, so all the 2k2s are out, The 2001 b18 motor is rare and is expensive but i think the swap would be easier(labor).
BTW I test drove a 2k1 GSR....very very sweet (black with black leather and dark *** tint so bad ***).
