I own a 2008 Honda Civic LX. I used to change my own oil and filter but now that I am 70 and in relatively poor health, I figure the smart move is to let a mechanic do it. For a while I was taking my Honda to a dealer close to my home. I don't know what most Honda dealers are like but 2 out of 3 times the service department would find something else to repair or replace. They just couldn't let me out of there with just the oil and filter change. Most times I found out they were charging me for unnecessary work and or parts.

So what I need is a mechanic with experience who knows what he is doing and will use a quality oil and filter. O yeah, and hopefully would charge less than a dealer.

Doesn't seem like too much to ask but I just don't know how to find such an animal. Can you help? Even if you don't know anyone in Houston, maybe you could suggest how to go about finding a good mechanic.
